Default International Email Plan - The TRUTH??

Okay, I am really tired of hearing both yes/no from tmo reps and other people on whether or not the International Email plan covers data used when you are roaming internationally.

What's the REAL deal with this? I'd like to hear from people who've actually traveled with it and know first hand.

I'll be traveling out the US soon and I'd like to use Beejive, Viigo, SocialScope, as well as the web and maybe some radio...you know, regular data. Will International Email cover it or not?

Absolutely, positively, the unlimited int'l email package includes data. I've used it for just that MANY times throughout Asia, Europe, and Mexico.

You are absolutely incorrect. In the last 9 months, I've transfered over 250 MB of data (web, youtube, facebook updates, etc.) when out of the USA, and connected via EDGE with the Unlimited Int'l Email package enabled. I have never been charged.

I think the truth is it's supposed to be for email only, but cell systems are incapable of distinguishing between email & other data.

Thank you for easing my worries a little.

Yeah I have no idea how cell systems can tell apart email data and regular data. Seems really nit-picky.

Have you actually used this yourself?
Others have gotten "lucky". I personally don't know any who were charged.

While you may not get charged for data usage, this is not the intent of the service "Unlimited Int'l Email." Right now it's rare to be charged, but you could be.

So technically, couldn't you just say OH, I didn't know?

Some reps might waive but most reps are likely going to enforce policy. Especially if it's a large charge. It's just one of those YMMV situations.
