| | i need help with a decision.... please help
ok I'm a t-mobile customer. i want a new blackberry. of course the 9780 is the latest and greatest blackberry on t-mobile. ive been hearing lots of rumors about the new blackberrys about to come out next year.. 1 ghz processors possibly QNX os and the works. my worry is t-mobile will not get these phones. they seem to be more committed to the android platform. should i wait a couple of months and see what comes out or just go for it with the 9780. keep in mind i have a child on the way and money will be tight for me... i have a couple hundred extra dollars right now that i can put towards a new phone. help please??????

I agree that they are more committed to the Android platform. The answer to your dilemma depends on what you're looking to gain from a new phone. OS6 is awesome, but the fact that BB has yet to make a device that supports HSPA 7.2 is garbage. What would be a potential feature they could add that would draw you to a new device versus a 9780?

Actually I just want a phone that I can be satisfied with for at LEAST 3 years. I'm pretty basic. Give me email, web capabilities, and multitasking functions and I'm fine.

It's a great phone. I paid the full retail price of the phone and I ended up taking mine back because I didn't find it much of an upgrade over my Curve 8900. The 9780 has amazing battery life and call quality. The shipping OS software (6.0.0.359) is buggy. Its not bad, however you will notice some bugs especially if you text a lot and use Blackberry Messenger.
To give my insight on your dilemma, I would definitely go with the 9780 now. The 1Ghz processors you mentioned is all speculation. RIM has not officially announced that in Q1 or even Q2 2011 they will be adopting these new processors. Ya can't keep up with technology and if ya try it will drive ya nuts. :P Personally, I'd wait another month or two and hopefully by then the 9780 will have received a much better OS update. Let's say around May or June RIM does in fact release a new berry and T-Mobile gets it, you could always sell your 9780 and take a little bit of a loss. As far as 4G goes, the 9780 doesn't support it but 4G speeds according to CNET are not what T-Mobile is making them out to be. They are a big improvement over 3G but not what the average consumer thinks.
So yeah, definitely go with the 9780! You will not be disappointed. Like I said though, I'd wait another month or two for a solid OS update. Once the 9780 gets all its bugs worked out it will be a very hard device to beat. Best of luck to you.
Happy Holidays!!!
Matt

Where did your friend buy this manager, and are there any more for sale?
Also, which phone did you buy?

Matt | This post is pretty spot on... I also upgraded from the 8900 to 9780 and noticed the call quality is much better... I was getting very good battery life out of my 8900 by upgrading to a specific OS and tweaking a few settings on the phone, but I'd say the biggest upgrade from the 8900 to 9780 is the optical trackpad on the 9780, love that thing, makes navigation and especially web browsing so much easier.

Matt | FYI, the T-Mobile Bold 9780 did not ship with 6.0.0.359.

The trackpad and 3G are the two biggest advantages of the 9780 over the 8900 for me.
