Default I know I'm not the only one.....

I know it's not just me, But is anyone else a little irritated that Tmobile picked some odd ball frequency for their 3G service? I know 3G is not the end all be all,And I'm not one of those fan boys who needs 3G,But EDGE isn't gonna last forever.
I was looking to get myself a backup phone,I can't find anything that is 3G compatible with Tmobile.
Do any manufacturers make phones with the 1700Mhz frequency?

The G1 works on the 1700/2100 band.

And a new BlackBerry working on T-Mobile USA's bands is expected to be released before the end of the year.

I will be impressed if you found another phone that uses tmo 3g freq. Even tmo europe do not use the same freq so good luck on finding a phone.

Yea< there are very few, if any international phones with the 1700 frequency but with all the upcoming TMobile branded phones I think you will like at least some (TP2, MyTouch depending on what you rpefer). Also Bb Driftwood sometime in the end of the yr.

A little off the subject here as far as you finding a phone, but T-Mobile did not "Pick" a fequency.........it was the only freq they could get in the FCC Auction.....it was either 1700/2100 AWS or nothing at all.......blame the FCC not T-Mobile.

Excellent point. Thanks for making it.

I love T-Mobile but I'm starting to wonder in the long run if Verizon won't be the only game in town with the lead they'll have with 4G which will smoke Edge and 3G. If the research I've looked into is anywhere near accurate, the difference between 4G and the rest of the pack will be awe inspiring.

Plus as I understand it, Verizon's LTE will transcend both CDMA and GSM and totally change the game and the rules as we know them.

Keep an eye on Verizon. As I said, I'm a long-termer supporter of T-Mobile but if I were starting out looking for a carrier today knowing what I'm hearing, I'm not sure how I could go for anyone other than Verizon.

Tmo has great plan prices for a reason...

I used to have a treo 700wx on Sprint, and I enjoyed the quickness of web pages that I actually went to.. but if I can't see it on a computer screen, then it's only for quick info/directions/etc and EDGE has been ok for that.. annoyingly slow at times, but ok.

I'm curious to see how TMo's 3G is on the Magic.. and for the 3G I know of, it will be perfect for what I personally do with it.

for those who are waiting for LTE or 4G- go to the carrier that has it if that's what you really want.

so what if TMobile is behind.. for those of us who don't need or use or want all those extras...
