Default How much is your bill?

Hey all,

I'm thinking of switching to Tmobile from VZW, who I've come to hate. If I got my wife and I each the new BB Bold, and 750 minutes to share, unlimited texting and data, does anyone know what the approximate monthly cost would be?

Thanks

I have the now retired Even More Plus 500, Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web at $59.99/mo. With taxes its $66.48 a month. This is perfect for me. To answer your question thought I'd go with the Even More for Families 750 Talk + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web at $139.99/mo. Taxes vary by state obviously.

Before switching CHECK COVERAGE!!!

Good Luck!!!

Your kidding right ?! That's the tariff in U.S ? I would gladly kill myself with such a tariff.

I'm paying 8,33Euros / month.

I got everything on it but nothing UNLIMITED (why do you guys like the word unlimited so much ? it's just to rip you off, you should see how much you use and get a plan based on that, there's no point in having 3000 minutes if you only use 500 every month).

So to get back on the subject, for 8,33 euro / month I get:

- 700 minutes (actually it's 510 both inside and outside network but being more than 2 year subscriber I get additional free minutes). I only use about 400 of these anyway because I use texting and BBM too, and the two numbers I talk the most with I talk free ( you get one free number / year to talk with for free for unlimited time )

- 250 texts (enough because they stack each month and I never use them all so I constantly have 500 texts, and I really like using BBM and KiK, I really rarely text to people who don't have a newer phone ).

- 10 MMS - I don't use more than that, to think about it I didn't even use one for the last 2-3 months

- 200 MB BIS - which is compressed, meaning BIS has a ratio of 1:6 MB of compression, so that's 1200 MB / month of data - I think I use like 100-200 MB because you literally have problems over here finding a spot that DOESN'T have Wi-Fi.

So I pay 8,33 / month, I never have additional costs, and come to think of it I don't really use all of the features, I think I could actually downgrade to a 4,17 euros/month plan.

Again, what your paying in US is a lot. 140$ for 750 minutes, unlimited texts and web ? That's a rip off. In the first place, 750 is more than enough for any human being, and second: NOBODY needs unlimited. Unlimited is just a way of advertising to make you pay more for something you never use: it's like offering guarantee for life for a mobile phone, you won't need it. Keep a record for a month of the number of texts you send and the amount of DATA, think about the month - if you feel like it was normal, get a plan with a 10-20% extra just to be on the safe side.

Oh and what did you mean by "check coverage" ? Are there coverage problems with that tariff ? I mean with such a tariff you should have coverage 100 ft underwater in a submarine.

I got 98% coverage ( the 2% are 2000+m mountain peaks) and 90% 3G+ coverage.

Again: 140$ compared to my 8,33 euros is... OMG. And for real, after writing this post I really think I'll downgrade my plan because this one has too much data. I use Wi-Fi all the time so the **** with it.

By the way I'm on Orange Romania and the subscription I'm talking about is the 8,33 euro Panther plan.

abonamente de voce | abonamentul Panteră 8 | Orange Romania

You either buy more than you need or things are just way over priced over there. I would guess both of them, related to American vs. European cars, American cars use way too much fuel for way too little power - same here, you pay way too much for way to less. And the second point would be: I guess you pay more for everything, I mean last summer while I was visiting US I had to friggin pay 5 bucks to use the Wi-Fi ?! WTH - everywhere I went there was paid Wi-Fi. I never paid for Wi-Fi in the following countries: Macedonia (which btw has a 95% Wi-Fi coverage), Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Estonia and Sweden). - I really guess there's no to little paid Wi-Fi in Europe, so imagine me being stunned. I literally refused to pay and the guy was being shocked that I was expecting free Wi-Fi, talk about culture shock in the 21st century.

I know this is a big post, I know this seems aggressive towards U.S and I guess it kinda is but not to brag about how great EU is just to point out some things that you might like to have in the U.S and you could actually do something about it, like, I don't know, revolution ? Hence the French.

You may be right. Unlimited is just a marketing technique and usually works. I'd be fine with only 100mb of data each month but when I got my plan unlimited was all there was. I have 500 minutes and use about 450 a month so I pay for what I use. T-Mobile USA only offers unlimited texting and this is probably the only service that I would actually need unlimited use from.

The original poster simply asked how much 750 minutes for 2 people would cost him through T-Mobile. There is also an identical 200mb data plan that would run him $20 less. AT&T & Verizon are more expensive. Paying only 8.33 Euros a month is great and good for you. Every country does have its pros and cons.

Yeah, I'm clearly aware that Orange UK for example does have some higher tariff but I can't help it not to be... simply amazed. I mean I just discovered this, the tariff in U.S is just huge, I just checked the T-Mobile website.

I had no idea that their coverage is kinda poor (there no to little coverage on the West Coast), and I also had no idea their cheapest plan is 40$ - for what ? For 500 minutes ? That's crazy.

And another thing I think I kinda made a mistake by assuming your minutes mean the same with Orange minutes.
You see, for Orange "minutes" means literally minutes - as in you have orange - orange minutes and orange - other networks minutes.

So I see you got 500 minutes (Even more 500 - 40$) but those are 500 minutes t-mobile - other networks.

T-mobile - T-mobile is unlimited, so that changes things a lot. But 40$ is still to expensive for 500 minutes and... that's it.

I understand what your saying. However what is cheap to you might not be cheap to someone else. Below $70 a month is pretty cheap for me and obviously very expensive to you. However if I lived in Europe or anywhere else for that matter $66 could be astronomical. To each his own

I agree it's too much. Welcome to our country where they tax and fee and excise tax you to death and then add on all these other charges. It really is time for a tea party.

I pay...

49.99 unlimited minutes
9.99 unlimited messages
20 for unlimited android data

Of course, this is an older plan. The EM offerings aren't all that hot. I suggest going EM+, paying phone off over 20 months. You end up saving money over time.

Artemis, are you getting a discount with your plan? I needed to break up my family plan and was thinking of going with the $49.99 loyalty plan if I can get it. But only if I am able to still have my 10% monthly discount.

Nope, no discount. I get a discount on my data/txts but not the loyalty plan. No discount whatsoever applies to unlimited loyalty.

What I pay...

Unlimited Talk - 49.99
Unlimited Data - 20.00
Unlimited Messaging - 10.00
(this makes up the EM+ top plan of 79.99)
FlexPay Control Charge - 4.99
Premium Handset Protection for 9700 - 5.99
Taxes/Surcharges (AZ) - 7.74
Total: 98.71

However I use about 1000 minutes, and between 9-10,000 texts in the course of a month, so I find it a good value for my usage.

$138 per month for 3 lines two with the Android feature, 1500 shared minutes, unlimited web and text. Sad thing is, we only save about $30 a month on the employee plan. If we drop down to the 450 with everything, we save $20. Not much savings there.
