| | How about a good Tmobile thread?
I see a lot of negative things said about T-Mobile's slowness in releasing new operating systems, etc. I've said a few of those negative things myself.
However, I thought it might be time for some T-Mobile positives.
We have been with Tmobile for almost 5 years now. We started off on the Hot Spot @ Home thing, and had nothing but problems. Customer care was great with helping get all that solved.
I have never, ever had an issue with Customer Care that didn't get resolved. Most of the reps I've spoken to or chatted with have been friendly and helpful. I've taken the time to ask a number of them to transfer me to their bosses so that I could let them know what a great job their employees are doing.
Our bill is unheard of for two adults with smartphones and data and a text-happy pre-teenager. Helps that a lot of my family is on T-Mobile as well...
We have a particular store in our area that opened not that long ago. This store has always had the most friendly employees. The other two we've tried also have friendly people. None of them have ever ignored me (the wife) to talk to my husband about the phones, etc. That's right...women are intelligent as well.
Anyway, I just wanted to take the time to say that I think that T-Mobile is definitely doing some things right. |

I used to be a T-Mobile customer and originally had no issues with their service. I started having a lot of dropped calls and data issues with a T-Mobile G1 so I had to call customer service quite a few times. While always polite and helpful, their help could only go so far to mask their network troubles. I paid $200 to terminate my contact and went with Verizon about a year and a half ago. Recently, my friend had her contract terminated at no cost to her about 17 months early because she was dropping 5+ calls a day with a MyTouch 3G. T-Mobile kept giving her the run around about how it's the tower(s) and how they were going to address the issue but that wasn't working for us as it happened in many different areas and with 4 different replacements. All of these issues came in what's considered a great service area. I think the main issue with this was the switch from 3G to 2G when the service was lost. But as she told T-Mobile, why have a 3G phone that needs 3G turned off all the time?
But as with any carrier, results will vary based on user experience and each service area. I'm sure some people have found this issue with Verizon and other carriers so don't take this as a bash on T-Mobile as a whole. I still find T-Mobile to be the 2nd best carrier in my area (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint is the order) so that's good news for them. Their prices are something I was sad to leave behind but at least my bill is close with a corporate discount.
I will say one thing though and I'm not sure if it's just my local T-Mobile stores or nationwide. When my friend walked in for a SIM card replacement per the request of a T-Mobile Customer Service Representative, they had two people working and that's it. One was dealing with a customers phone issues as her phone was "run over" for nearly an hour and the other only knew how to take payments. In other words, a 2 minute SIM card swap took an hour. I figure a company should be more involved and helpful to their customers.

I absolutely agree that every company is going to have valid complaints. I have some myself with Tmobile.
We had nothing but trouble with the HotSpot service we signed up for. I dealt with that for months with dropped calls. But I understood that it was a different technology. We finally (after two full sets of phones and two routers) told them that we were unhappy with the service and asked to be transferred to retentions.
A nice tone of voice and calm manners netted us more rewards than we thought possible! We were given some upgrades as far as service (to take the place of our hotspot deal) and were allowed to do an early contract renewal to get smart phones.
Yesterday we went to a Tmobile store to check on my daughter's phone because it was randomly shutting off. With no fuss at all the store clerk (the same person who recommended a Berry for me in the first place and helped me replace my husband's Berry after he left it in a jeans pocket and I washed said jeans) ordered her a new battery under warranty.
I have had my fair share of frustrations with Tmobile, but our corporate discount, their excellent customer service, the fact that my family are almost all Tmobile, and the fact that our grandfathered prices are unmatchable by other carriers keep us as Tmo customers.

My T-Mobile discount was 5% off my total bill which isn't much but it helped. My Verizon discount is 19% off my plan and 20% off features such as web. As for your family being on T-Mobile, that's possibly the best reason of all since it's all Mobile to Mobile.
Quick question, have you ever dealt with AT&T before? I was verified under my dads account and all I called to ask is when his contract ended. I was given the run around with the "please hold" for around 20 minutes while I look into this for you. After 20 minutes, he told me and asked why I was curious and I told him my dad was switching to Verizon since I signed up for them a while ago. He proceeded to say well now that your purpose for calling has been handled, let's upgrade your phone now. Not politely, he actually tried to force it. No thank you.
But the worst experience I've had with AT&T was when I tried to call my now ex-girlfriend. It kept giving me an error message on my line (to the number I call the most) stating that there is an error. AT&T tried to blame her carrier which was US Cellular but that couldn't be it because I could reach her through my friends T-Mobile phone, home phone, and my dads AT&T device. The strange part is this happened for a week and they finally kept saying it should fix shortly. A week more passed and I just said screw it and went to T-Mobile. Guess what? I was ABLE to call her. The odd thing was that this began happening the DAY my contract had ended. How odd...

I really enjoy T-Mobile. I have unlimited everything on a grandfathered plan and it saves me a lot compared to other carriers. I always have my issues fixed by CSR. I also love using UMA. I'd like to use Android in the future so I hope to see an Android UMA handset soon.
It's great having a GSM carrier that I can switch out my SIM when I want to change phones. That's so awesome.
My only gripe is that their coverage is a bit sub par. And I don't always have wifi available for UMA. But you know, it's ok.

My sisters are both on AT&T with their beloved (insert my sarcasm here) iPhones. One is a Berry traitor. I have had no problems with our connections from Tmo to AT&T. Quote: |

We get a corporate discount from The Hubby's company that pretty much covers the cost of one of our data plans. Grandfathered we definitely are.
Here's the cool thing: when I was in the hospital having our son, we came closer to using up our minutes than we ever had before, because I had no UMA calling from the hospital and we had lots of family to call. My husband called Tmobile who credited us extra minutes. Now that's awesome service. |

Long time T-Mobile customer. Personally haven't had any problems.
Here's some positive info for T-Mobile: Cell Phone Coverage Maps - AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile
Least dead zones reported by users.

I called T-Mobile because my friends wife switched their phones from AT&T to a new company. He thought it was T-Mobile so I took him off my MyFaves. Sadly, I used some minutes as he had Verizon (Whoops, no idea how he didn't know) and I called T-Mobile asking about possibly switching up my plan for the month. They did one better and added something like 300 bonus minutes at no charge to my account that lasted up to 90 days.
I was quite surprised to say the elast.

I too have been a longtime tmo customer and I haven't had a problems. I've traveled all over the states and tmo has been flawless everywhere I've traveled, one exception is Kauai island but I was in the valley so service wasn't expected.

The only issue I'm seeing with consistency is calling my brother's Tmo line from his army base in Alaska. We knew that could happen though since Tmo told us there are no Tmo towers there, they use AT&T.

I can say I haven't had the best of luck with the phones on tmo, or the customer service. But after being with tmo for so long 6 years I am loyal. In the past couple of years they have gotten a lot better. I recently had a problem, my new bb 8520 started acting up I called tmo they are sending me a replacment for it in the mean time the store gave me a loaner phone. When I got home with the loaner my little girl started playing with a loaner phone that was never cleared from the previous user. It had some very vulger words left on it in text. That she started saying, I took the phone back the next day talked to the assistant manager and the store manager, ended up getting a good discount on a new blue tooth to keep me from leaving.
When my girl friend left tmo for the I phone, and came back in two days to tmo's open arms like nothing ever happend. She is still fighting at&t two months later. I am tmo, & black berry for life

In about two months I'll be with TMO for three years. In those three years I've had nothing but great service from them. Yes, they do have their spots where there's no service or it drops down to GPRS but I only travel through these spots. My service is great wherever I go, whether it's NYC or Dallas, TX. I only have one complaint about them, I want an HSPA+ Blackberry. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
