Help! In China and only get "Call Failed"

I hope this is the right forum...

I have a BB 9700 and TMobile from the US (Dallas area). I am currently in China and incoming/outgoing emails work on my phone, incoming/outgoing texts work on my phone and incoming calls work on my phone. But I can't dial out and get "Call Failed" no matter what I do. I even had the IT guy at the company I am visiting call China Mobile (the carrier that phone has picked up) and they said the same thing US TMobile said... Just dial 001+phone number and everything should be fine. I have certainly tried 001 and virtually every other combination of 0's and 1's as well, but no luck. I have pulled the battery several times. Again, no luck. Help!?!? Is there a setting on my phone that could stop my outgoing calls? Any advice would be appreciated.

Is the "international calling" feature enabled on your account? That is required for you to call foreign countries from US and call US from foreign countries.

If you have wifi nearby, disable your "network connection" and use "wifi only". You will be connected to UMA that way and just dial any US number as you would here in the States directly +1-area code-number and that should work also.

If all else fails, go buy a "prepaid" china mobile sim card, they are everywhere. Even that rate is cheaper than using your TMO phone and roam in China. TMO's international roaming rate is not very cheap...

When I was in the UK they said I had to set up International roaming before I left....and it was going to cost something like 1.49 a minute...I never did use it though.
