Haven't been able to use UMA for a week
Works fine at home..where I don't need it. Haven't been able to get UMA at work for a week now, where cellular coverage is very poor.
Tried all the usual things...rebooted the phone (several times), rebooted the router, deleted and re-entered the wifi network profile, etc.. Nothing works.
I looked in the wifi diagnostics, and it says error W006.1 (which, as is the case with all of these codes, tells you nothing, I think it picks error codes at random) It also says that the server is "punc.t-mobileuncs.com:14001" I tried to ping that from my laptop, and it does not answer.
So I tried to do a nslookup on it, and got nothing. To see if the problem is with the local ISP, I called a friend in another city and had them ping it and he got nothing.
I called t-mobile and, after speaking with several people, finally got someone who was, at least, familiar with the service and how it works. He told me he could ping that server.
I know that, when I am at home, it is not using that punc server.
I am guessing that the problem is with the published DNS info. The customer service guy being able to ping the server does not impress me, since he is on the same network. There probably wasn't even a DNS lookup involved.
Not sure what to do next except wait and see if it ever comes back. But I am open to suggestions.
