Default Got problems staying connected to Wifi? This may help

Guys,

My 9780 was having trouble maintaining a wifi connection. After playing around with it for a while, I stumbled upon a procedure that helped immensely. Now instead of dropping my connection after 5-10 min, the phone will occasionally drop, but then quickly reconnect. I think it may have something to do with the router/phone/configuration combo.

I'm using a T-Mo version of the WRT-54G. I used to have t-mo@home service, but discontinued it quite a while ago. I think that may be part of the problem. Here is what I did:

Went to Manage Connections->Setup Wifi Networks->Saved Wifi Networks, and disabled HotSpot and @Home. That's it - very simple.

As an addendum - I have since reenabled Hotspot, and @Home, but made sure that my home wifi was the top entry, and all still works.

It is a RIM/carrier issue, nothing to do with your router. I had it once with the "hotspot login" and since then it has been fine. Supposedly it is fixed.

Time tells all.

Try first to connect to other WIFI connection, if it works fine then it is something that is related to the settings on your router.

I used to keep my mobile network activated when I was on wifi and sometimes I'd start a call on wifi and when I'd hang up my 9700 would be showing as on the t-mobile network (which defeats the purpose of having hotspot unlimited minutes while on wifi), so i now turn off the t-mobile network while I'm on wifi and it works perfectly. I just have to remember to re-enable the mobile network when i leave my house, but it's just a couple clicks so no big deal...
