You're going to pay lots for both voice and data...

Are you going to a resort? I've been to Cancun and stayed in a resort and there was wifi everywhere.
You could just use wifi for your data and also (if your phone supports it) you could use the wifi for UMA calling, which will just come out of your monthly minutes...

You could do what the above poster suggested or unlock the phone and pick up a prepaid sim while there for use. It will save you from having to pay high roaming charges.

Did you see this thread? http://forums.crackberry.com/f69/5-5...culous-236441/ You'll have to put out a lot of money to use voice and data in Mexico

What about what I suggested? Unlock the phone and pick up a prepaid sim to use while in Mexico. If you search through these forums you'll find tons of topics about traveling and using your Blackberry

You can add Mexico from Verizon and then cancel it when you get back. Not very expensive.

I made calls from Cozumel and the actual charge was $1.49/minute.

If you are able to connect to wifi, you can make UMA calls, but you need to change your settings to wifi-only so it doesn't hand off the call to a cell tower.

My last few vacation type trips to Mexico, I used prepaid SIM cards for local calls, and the rest of the time my phone was used as an alarm. Other than calling a few places to find out where they were or to order something to be delivered to where I was staying, there was not a lot of phone calls.

Folks back home normally can do without calling me for a week or two, but in an emergency, everyone that needs it, gets the Local SIM Card phone number, by email.
