getting 3g instead of 3G

Hey I got the Bold 9700 and I am currently in NYC Queens to be exact, I noticed I don't have the berry icon and the 3g is not 3G is this a outage what should I do?

Edit: I am getting EDGE and Internet starts working again basically if I switch to 2G.

Edit 2: I just turned off my mobile network and turned it back on and I got everything to work fine.

How's this for odd:

My Bold 9700 isn't getting the Berry symbol+3G and is telling me I'm connected via EDGE. I go to test my speed and my speed test clocks in @ 851Kbps downloads.
