Default To Get or Not to Get

I've been toying around getting a BB for a little while now and even was thinking about paying the full price for one. I went into my Tmobile store a few weeks ago and was looking into getting one and found out that somehow I've eligible for upgrade.

I'd been reading the blogs the past few weeks and knew that the new BB 9700 was going to be released soon so I decided to wait and get this when I came out.

I've been reading the reviews about this phone in particular and about the data service with TMO. I've never had a phone with internet before and think it's about time I go there.

In reading the reviews people have written about the 9700, some have said that the browser isn't great and there are certain website that won't work (i.e. Youtube). Is this something new because the phone is new? I'm looking for some guidance before I spend the money for a BB and committ myself to the data plan for 2 years. Can anyone help me?

There really isn't enough information here to answer your question with a good response. A few questions ...

1.) What do you do for a living?
2.) How important is security?
3.) Do you send a lot of text messages and emails from your phone?
4.) What types of sites do you want to access from your phone?
5.) How much time would you spend using data on your phone?

A little more info might be helpful.

I work in the social services field, so it's not something I would use for work. I do however send a lot of text messages and would like to have access to my e-mail wherever I go.

I didn't used to think that I wanted internet access from my phone, but lately there have been so many times I wish I had internet access when I've been out to look things up and stuff.

I think I would like having the data....I think my question is more about the ease of use of the device itself and people's enjoyment over having them.

If you get a blackberry, they make you get data anyways. I can't wait to get my hands on the 9700. I love my 8320, but I need more memory.

If you only need texting & internet & aren't going to really need push e-mail, you can either go w/the 8900 or 9700 BB, MyTouch, or the Cliq. Berries are awesome, but if you get one, you need to use it to it's full potential.

As far as 'using it it to its full potential' goes; a lot of us BB owners aren't business users and still manage to use and enjoy our devices. I've had the flu over the last week and most of the times I picked up my BB, it was only to play solitaire!

OP, if the 9700 appeals to you, get it. Once you have push email you won't want to be without it. The BB browser is fine (if not earth shattering) and while I don't do a huge amount of web browsing when I'm out and about, its nice to be able to google something, or check my daughter's soccer team standings or whatever when I need to. I actually use the internet on my phone at home more than anything (yeah, because getting up and walking to the computer is that hard!!). I don't know what the issue is about people & youtube but I am able to go to YT and view videos ... they open in the device's media player.

Good luck deciding!
