Default Free trackball replacement program

I have two things to inquire about here about the Free Trackball Replacement program (T-mobile):

http://www.tmonews.com/2010/01/t-mobile-launching-trackball-replacement-program/

1.) Is the program still going on? I have a BlackBerry Curve 8320 and wouldn't mind "refreshing" my trackball.

2.) I went in to a corporate store earlier this year, when the program was suppose to have been in effect, and the worker ("manager") said I had to pay $10 to replace my trackball. Can they do that? If not, who do I call to complain.

It is still going on but depends on the corp store if they still have any trackballs laying around. For the record, this program is no longer being giving high priority so if the particular store you go to still have the trackballs for replacement purposes, they should do it for free. The $10 charge at the store you went to just means that might be trying to rip you off, perhaps trying to pocket the money. Try another corp store. Good luck.

Edit: you can file a complain with CS regarding this issue but before you do, make sure it was a corp store you visited. Dealerships can charge for services at their own discretion.

Am I correct in thinking that this isn't for the 8900?

Yes, if you are able to click on the link in my post, please read it. Its really short. But the program is only for Blackberry Pearls 8120/8120 and Curve 8320. The trackballs are different for 8900s.

8300s and 8100s feature a trackball that can be simply plucked out and replaced without taking the phone apart. 8900s have a trackball that cannot be replaced without taking the phone apart and which will result in voiding the warranty. Therefore, the program only covers 8300s and 8100s.

Just as an update for anyone who still using the old reliable Curve 8320s, I recently went to a t-mobile corporate store and had my trackball replace for a brand new one. FREE!!!

It took me a number of months and a number of stores, but they finally came through.

Besides all the battle damages that my curve has gone through, the phone feels 'new' with a fresh trackball!

I was with a friend who had his replaced at a store in Texas just a few months ago. He wasn't aware of the program, he just went in and asked about it and they fixed it in a couple of minutes.

Some stores still have them in stock. Mine does, but only for the 8120 and 8230. No more 8100
