Default Former Suncom, Tmobile User Can't upgrade Curve 8310

Hi!
I have a Suncom Curve 8310 and Tmobile refuses to help me. I attempted to upgrade phone's software to 4.5 like everyone else and didn't see that option for my phone. I got the runaround from several Tmobile reps, one even telling me that an upgrade for my phone would be available at the end of October. I don't know where he got a date from, and either did the next rep I talked to. Finally, a third rep told me that 4.5 was not available for the Suncom phones, and basically I'd have to buy a Tmobile phone (which means getting a Tmobile plan, way more expensive). The rep also told me that there was an option of flashing the ROM but he could not assist me with this or encourage me to do it. I'm so frustrated. Suncom was bought out 2 weeks before I signed my contract. If I'm paying Tmobile just like everyone else, I deserve to upgrade my phone just like everyone else. I'm stuck on version 4.2.! Ugh! Can anyone help?

Your only option is probably to get one of the leaks from back then and flash it yourself.

You pay your bills to T-Mobile but it's like using an unlocked phone on T-Mobile from Nokia or Samsung or eyePhone from China and expecting them to support it. They don't have the people trained on offering support for Suncom devices since they are setup somewhat differently as well.

Default Im former Suncom as well...

I was once in your boat. I am a former Suncom customer as well.

Back in February, I went in to buy the G1. T-Mo would not sell it to me without me changing plans. However, I decided to get the T-Mobile Wing. They gave me a new sim card and it worked flawlessly. I absolutely hated that phone and went back and got my 1st BB, the 8900. It cost me $15 per month more for BB service. I did pay full retail for the phone.

They did not require me to change my plan. I am still on the unlimited Suncom plan with Unlimited Voice and Text/Pix that I was on 3 years ago with Suncom.

Anyway, this week (Tuesday), I called to order BB 9700. My official upgrade isn't until Feb. 2010. They explained that I couldn't get the phone without changing plans........Once retentions realized I would go to AT&T to get the phone I wanted, their story changed. Not only did they ship me the 9700, due in tomorrow, but they also gave it to me for $199, $18 upgrade, and taxes.

This may not directly relate to you, but there have been mulitple instances where I ordered phones from T-Mo and the only requirement was to change to T-Mo sim.

I bought 8900 in Feb.
G/F got 8900 in June.
Brother bought 8900 in June.
Other line bought Nokia T-Mo phone in August.
And the other brother has an 8320, which T-Mo unlocked for me, FREE of charge.

8310 is an unsupported device therefore there is not official T-Mobile OS update for your device. As far as upgrades or whatnot, I believe for the most part T-Mobile should grandfather your plan over for you.

When we use un-supported devices we are on our own.As long as the device can receive and make calls where sol,when it come's to other features of the device.Got a BB 9000 on the way now.
