Default Flex Pay Uma

Ok I need the accurate skinny here folks.....

My brother has 2 8520's he bought on craigslist from a guy whos navy ...got deployed and lost his Tmo account due to non pay......

I advised against it but his credit is shot and loves my tmobile service.....I perused the TMO site but some answers in FAQ were vague

#1. Can he use these functional tmo 8520's on tmo even though the seler got non pay disconnected.......is the service the same quality as post pay

#2. Can he get blackberry service on tmo and if so can he get the same UMA feature I get...10.00 unlimited calling.......

#3. Any advice or tips he should have......contract ....no contract....he's also a federal employee like me....can he get a discount?.........can he add a text messaging package?

#4. Whats the setup costs like?.......how does that work.....contract cheaper plns than if no contract?

Thanks guys

1. Yes, he'd be starting a brand new account. They're GSM phones with no ESN, so they can't be marked bad.

2. Yes, he has access to UMA.

3. If his credit is that badly smashed, he'll be approved for FlexPay only. If he wants to be able to cancel whenever, he can do monthly without running his credit. If he runs his credit with the federal discount program from the beginning and he is eligible for a Post Paid account, then he'll get the discount. If he can't because of credit, he may be eligible for a FlexPay annual contract in which he doesn't receive a discount on his bill, but he will on his phones. And yes, he can get text messaging.

4. If he's FlexPay annual or monthly there are no activation fees. If he's Post Paid without a discount program, it's 35 dollars per line of service for activation. If he has a discount and gets approved for a Post Paid account his activation fees are waived.

Thanks X.....I really appreciate it.....he seems to love my TMO post pay but i was trying to explain its not quite the same.....if I understand correctly though theres realy very few differences........the only exception being no @home and he pays in advance...

Now when he pays in advance his bill will be due xx every month...does he just go online and it has a bill prepared for the next month.....and can i use like prepaid cards to give him as a gift?

He should have normal access to his bill sum online just like everyone else. He can pay it online, over the phone, or at the store. He can also opt to place his bill on easy pay. It'll save him the 5 dollar control charge and it'll make sure he pays his bill on time. And no, you can't use a pre-paid card as a gift for him.

but you can give him refill cards for him to place on his flex account. These can be used for downloads, purchases and even paying the bill if needed. We do this for my son when he wants to buy ringtones, wallpapers and such...
