Default ETF related question

Okay this isn't for me, this is for my sister who currently IS with T-Mobile. She has less than 2 months to go before her contract is up. She wants to upgrade her phone, but if she does she will be taken off the EM+ plan she's currently on, and she will end up paying as much as I am now with Sprint (I'm paying the $10 upcharge for 4G on my Evo). I'm trying to convince her to port her number to Sprint before the end of the month, after which they will impose that $10 fee on ALL smartphones.

So my question is this: with less than 2 months to go, how much of an ETF would she be expecting to pay if she DID port her number out? I know that other carriers, the ETF drops like 5 dollars or so for every month a customer stays on contract. I don't know if this is the case with T-Mobile?

If it's less than three months, it's $50. 30 days or less is $50 or the remainder of your wireless bill, whichever is less.

Oops! I apologize for the double post but my browser was acting stupid. I'm thinking of cancelling two lines myself since they're up in six months.

Like Armomdo stated, less than 3 months on a 2 year contact you'll either pay $50 or the balance of the bill. If she is on the EM+ plan, there is no ETF, just make sure your sister ports her number before her bill is due.

And, if you close the account, once the number is ported out, have customer service prorate the ending bill for the number of days used in the last billing period.

I believe she is still under contract, but at some point in the past T-Mobile allowed her to switch to the EM+ plan. But I do thank you all for the information. I've passed this along to her, so she can use this info to make her decision.

If she is on the EM + plan, that is a no contact plan, therefore; no ETF.

I'm going to have her call T-Mobile tomorrow. Because they are leading her to believe she is still under contract. I DO believe what you're saying though. For the BRIEF time I was with T-Mobile last year, I was on the EM+ plan because there was no contract. If they ARE messing with her, maybe this will make her decision much easier.

You can be on an EM+ but still be under contract. If you pay the migration fee to switch to EM+ early, you still have to finish out your original contract, just under the cheaper rate.
