Default Edge->gsm->sos

So here at work tonight/day my coverage has been constantly changing. I'll go from EDGE to GSM to SOS all within a couple of feet(or less). If I'm outside I'll have 5 bars of GSM but no EDGE; inside (barely 8 feet from the front door) and I get no coverage...or at best 2 bars of coverage.
Any ideas of what this could be or how I can change it? This has really only been happening today.
Pretty much anywhere I go in Minneapolis, MN I get 3 bars or less which is pretty ridiculous.

I called t-mobile around 8 am and they said everything was running tip-top in my area.

Side note: New plans can cost $200 to "migrate" to? In-store rep "conveniently" decided not to tell me that but phone CS got me all fixed up.

If you signed a contract after launch (10/25) switching to the non-contract plan will draw an ETF. If you were on contract prior to launch, you will have a $35 migration per line, capped at $70 for a family plan.

Battery pull fixed nothing. I saw in another thread that connection problems like this may be a SIM card issue...could it apply to my situation as well? I've had my SIM card for a few years and it has been in water.

Yeah it doesn't I've talked to tmo techs multiple times and the swear up n down that a reinstall of the OS will work I've already done it twice still having a problem I think its something wrong with bis cuz I tainted my hand with a mytouch 3g and never once had a problem
