Yes, insurance covers water damage...which includes sweat damage.

However, I'm not sure if you're covered because although you have insurance on your SIM, you're using a phone that you bought elsewhere (aka not T-Mobile). Insurance may not cover that phone because you didn't get it from T-Mobile.

If it's not a phone that T-Mobile offers, Asurion will probably offer him a different device of equal value.

I would also suggest for the future a bluetooth headset.

Try the ol' box of rice trick. Get a plastic container, put a box of rice in it, then bury the phone in the rice over night. Take it out and it should power up for the most part. It doesn't always work, but more than half of the time you'll get it to work again.

Just tell them it's water damage....salt water. And, the BT headset sounds like a good idea for you in the future.

1. Screen protector

2. I have used my Bold when I was sweating quite a lot and no issue.

3. Has the device ever been opened?
