Default Does anyone use over 2gb of data?

Well im was one of the lucky ones to get on the 59.99 unlimited everything plan. I use to have the 79.99 unlimited everything plan, both with no contracts. I knew that getting this plan would give me 2gb of high speed and then slow speeds down until the next billing cycle. I use a blackberry 8900 , and most of the time im connected to wifi and most of my bills have used maybe 15mb a month because of that.

Now during the summer when im out more, ive hit as high as 180mb.

My question is , how often does anyone go over 2gb of data a month? Take into consideration that im planning on upgrading to the storm type blackberry or the g2x where you can actually use more websites, apps, etc etc.

I dont really stream music or videos either , but even if i wanted to .. how good is 2gb? I usually just have the weather running , bbm , facebook app, and yahoo. I know if i get a front facing camera phone also, that would use ALOT of data. I was told i can go back to the other plan in the future if its still around since the 59.99 was a one day deal.

So again .. how often do you go over 2gb? Thanks

I also got on that plan on the 13th. I have never used more than 80MB on my BB. The only way your gonna use a lot is if you tether or stream youtube videos. Data sent and received through Blackberries is compressed which results in smaller data. Now with Android, you will use a lot. Still won't be an issue for me as wi-fi is everywhere and the only real killer with data is streaming video and tethering.

But to answer your question, when I had the myTouch 4G, I streamed A LOT of video and just used about 3GB in a month. Of course, I had the 5GB limit but my point is, I was doing it because it was unlimited and I knew even if I tried, I wouldn't hit 5.

Don't get rid of this plan, its the best deal ever!!!! I think if you get rid of this plan, you'll never be able to get it back. I have no problem monitoring my data, and if that means using a little less to have unlimited everything for $59.99/mo then so be it.

I haven't tethered and I'm a little over 2GB this month. If you have an android phone be prepared to see that usage go up.

I have a blackberry and an android phone (nexus s) and I am yet to go over 500 mb on either device. Then again I never watch youtube, and tether a few times a month for a few minutes at a time.

I don't think you need to worry about getting anywhere near 2gb.

If you teather then yes, can be easy on an Android, on BB maybe...just depends how much you use it.

Me, I don't go over 50mb a month and I am constantly on my BB...I don't stream much video, however once in awhile I stream Pandora.

I am usually outside a wifi signal too...

Trying to get my wife to go back to BB for this reason alone as she barely uses her Optimus T and she pushes close to 1g a month. She would be below me on a BB data wise, which in the long run would save us money if we get stuck on these tiered plans, which we would be if this merger goes through...

I think BBs are a little better as far as data conservation, meaning you can do a lot and not really use up a lot of data. Android phones, on the other hand, use a lot more due to the constant synchronization (in addition to many other things).

If you use a BB and you're not tethering, it would be extremely hard to hit 2 GB. I'm never on Wi-Fi, tether only occasionally and have only seen my usage top out at 500 MB, but I'm usually around 200MB.

For what you have right now, it's an extremely good deal considering I pay the same for 500 minutes, unlimited talk and text haha. If you upgrade to an Android phone, you may hit that cap but keep in mind that if you use Wi-Fi a lot with that as well, then a lot of your data will be absorbed and won't count toward your 2GB. Overall, I think you'll be fine.

I run 4-6 GB a month. That's with a little streaming, but I do a lot with my BlackBerry.

I really have no idea how much I use. The my account page has always shown zero data usage even though I use it plenty.

Maybe I need one of those usage tracking apps.

What exactly do you do on your blackberry (if you wouldn't mind sharing) to reach 5-6 gb?

I think I use mine somewhat a lot, even tether a few times per month but never used anywhere near 1 gb.

Typically, I'm on it at any free moment. It doesn't get a lot of rest. I actually just took a hiatus last week, and my new cycle just got started, so I've only gone thru a gig this last few days. I'm slacking. I download a ton of material to sift thru, also.

5-6g on a BB is madness....I am constantly on mine and most I ever used was 320mb in one month. That was streaming a lot Pandora, Iheartradio and some youtube while in 3G at the airport last month due to flights being canceled. Was sending texts out the whazoo, on browser hours at a time, BBM like it was nobody's business and many other things.

Now unless you are teathering, I find it madness to get that many gigs on a bb being it compresses data...if you were on a Android....WOW!

Did you ever put it down?

When I had my BlackBerry I rarely went over 1GB, with tethering. I switched to Android (MyTouch 4G) two months ago. Surprise.... my first month I used 4GB of data. Last month I went well over 5GB and ended up with slower data speeds for almost two weeks. That second month included only occasional tethering.

I thought I used mine a lot too, but apparently not, because I am nowhere near 1 GB yet, let alone 4 GB.

On average I
-send/receive hundreds and hundreds of BBMs every day
-send/receive about 75-100 emails every day
-twitter refreshes every 30 minutes
-ton of browsing (mostly just read news/blogs/forums)
-stream Pandora twice a week for about an hour and a half each time
-tether about 3-5 times a month, 5-10 minutes each time
-google calendar is synced daily (with about 5-10 updates/changes daily)

Today is my last day of the month and I've used 447 MB.

Last month I noticed that my internet became slower than usuall and I couldn't even get a youtube video to play. A few days later I received a text from T-Mobile telling me that I went over my aloted data usage and therefore they we're slowing down my data for the remainder of the billing cycle. I called them to complain, as I was told that I would I have unlimited data when I stupidly renewed my contract with them in March, and I was told that I wentt over 5gb and once you go over that they have to slow down your data. I am a VERY heavy user but I stilll feel that they made a mistake. What do you aall think?

I go over 2 GB regularly on my Vibrant. It's tougher on a BB, because there are less quality apps that use data, IMO. I've done it on my 9700 a couple times. On an EDGE capped BB, it would be very difficult to break 2GB. Heck, it might take the full 30 days to load 2GB
