I use about 1-2GB a month.

Mind you, I use PodTrapper (downloading both video and audio podcasts), I stream Pandora when I drive, and I do some tethering when I have to.

No abuse by any means, just a heavy user.

I'm on wi-fi most of the time. So around 75-100mb. When I'm not on wi-fi for a whole month I used around 400-800mb.

Yeah if I'm at home with UMA, my data usage goes down quite a bit.

I am home now but the wireless here has been screwy for some reason so I just turned off my wifi to save battery life.

I'm assuming the OP meant 5GB a month or really 5MB. I do not have internet at home so I tether. I noticed last month I almost used 5GB but I'm sure there's people out there that are wayyy worst in the double digits. My friend just went crazy tethering with his new Vibrant and I saw his data usage was close to 10GB so far and I almost fell off my chair.

Has anyone ever been blocked or capped that you guys/gals know off? I mean, it is UNLIMITED DATA right? I think I scared my friend by telling him that TMO could TERMINATE his account regarding his data usage.

If you go over 10GB, then T-Mobile can "throttle" your speed. This means your data speed will be really, really slow until your next billing cycle.

They won't terminate your account though. I'd tell your friend that so he won't worry.

I used to average around 500 MB a month when I had solid 3G at home before I moved.

Now I have spotty data service at home and I'm on UMA here. I've only been here for about 2 weeks, so I'll be interested to see how my data use goes down.

How do you check for data usage?

It's on T-Mobile.com. You go under "Account Usage" or whatever and go under Data and it will tell you it in MB.

This is my heaviest month at 1.2 gigs. My billing cycle ends in 4 days so it'll probably settle out at 1.5gb.

That said - I got my 9650 this month so a) I had to set it up/download apps, and b) I've been playing with it heavily. I typically use between 500mb-750mb a month.

Wow... I'm a few days away from my billing cycle ending and I've only used around 60MB. This is one of the highest months of usage since I got the phone. I really only stream Pandora in the car. I guess I never gave it much thought what it would look like if I wasn't using WiFi most of the time.

You have to go to Manage - Account Use - and then scroll down to Data. It will say "0" but will show activity. Click on "see all data" under "Most Recent Activity".
