Default Data usage really low, is this for real?

I have paperless billing with Tmo and never really look at the bill because my plan hasn't changed in over two years so I just pay it and forget about it since the amount due is always the same.

For some reason yesterday I got my January bill in the mail, I opened it thinking I was past due, or something, because they sent me a paper copy. The bill looked fine, but I looked through usage info and it shows that I only used 31 MB in data last month. This surprised me because I stream Pandora daily, on top of emails, bbm, some web browsing, twitter and facebook occasionally. I went online and looked at the past 5-6 months and only once did I go over 50 MB.

What's going on here, can this be really true? I thought I was using too much data.

If you stream off pandora daily, and aren't on wifi then there's no way that can be right. I have about the same habits but I stream music on slacker and my monthly data usage is around 600 mb a month and sometimes goes up to a gigabyte.

Yeah I only use about 20 to 30 MB per month no streaming, and my son who streams Pandora "sometimes" and uses about 250+MB per month. If you stream 64kbps you are using approximately 0.48 MB per minute of music (.064*60/8), or 28.8 MB per Hour. Look at the bit rate and you should be able to guestimate the usage. If they are using a variable bit rate codec with a max of X, then it will be less than X the vast majority of the time.

RIM compresses data on BB's, so our data usage will be lower than that on say an iPhone and or Android, even if used the same amount.

Nice for bb users on tiered plans.

Wife uses 500mb's on her mytouch3G and hardly uses the net...and I Hoover around 175mb's or so on my 9700 and constantly on mine from streaming music and internet. (Check my CB posts, all done from phone, lol!) I so screw with my wife as she always reminds me how much I am on the phone...till I show her the bill and data usage, lol! I dare don't mention compression to her.

And OMG 1G from a berry without teathering? WOW! Lol

Y'all are a bunch of data whores! LOL

I think I average 125MB/month. I don't stream anything. Just occasional web surfing (forums mostly), BBM with the wife while we're at work, and Facebook.

1GB/month non-tethered! Thats impressive!

I used to hit 1GB/month without tethering on my old 9700 because of one thing: podcasts!

Right now with my G2, I use more. Maybe 2-3GB a month. I use the wifi hotspot feature on occasion but even on the months I don't, it's still 2-3GB.

T-Mo shows the usage correctly though. When I had the old 19.99 BB plan, it did not show it correctly for me (was always low).
