Default Data on T-Mobile Sidekick Prepaid with Blackberry.

I did a search and was unable to find a recent answer to my question, so maybe some of you guys can help me:

I'm on a prepaid pay-by-the-day account with t-mobile. i'm currently using a blackberry pearl 8120 but unfortunately data does not with prepaid.

i have been reading that some users have been using the sidekick prepaid plan which costs $1 / day for data access. t-mobile has since changed that policy since unlocked iphone users were taking advantage of the low cost.

Would anyone know if the sidekick prepaid plan would work for the blackberry? Again I realize it doesn't work for iphone but the blackberry pearl 8120 is one of their products they offer.

Help?

Thanks,

Jeff

I'd say try it. T-Mobile blocked iPhones from using SK prepaid data and some other phones were affected. I'm honestly not sure if BB is one of them.

My advice to you is to try it out. Buy a cheap phone kit and load it with a couple dollars.

The APN to use is hiptop.t-mobile.com

I've read that the Sidekick plan does not work for Blackberrys.

Even if it does work, keep in mind that because it's not a BB plan, you can't get BB features...like push email, BBM, etc.

Yes I was able to configure wifi on it but BB features don't work. Thats a bummer! T-mobile needs a BB prepaid plan.

Um... is there even still data for the Sidekick plan, considering the indefinite outage?

Yeah, SK data is back up. It's been back up for a few days now. People are still upset that they lost their contacts.

Yes it was also under my impression that the sidekick data plan doesn't work with the BB. I agree they should incorporate a BB PAYG

You have to have the blackberry plan for your pin to work because its tied to your blackberry email address.

Generally speaking, SK data works for a SK only. That's why SK users had no internet while BB/Android/other smartphone users had no issues. The SK prepaid is good on any phone if you only plan to text, but any internet access should be considered a fluke, not the norm

SIDEKICK have their own data system and BLACKBERRY have their own data system. Therefore no can't be done. Dont even try putting a sidekick sim in pda/windows based phone. samething.

Yeah that isn't true at all.

While you can't get BB data, you can get data on a BB phone with the Sidekick data plan (use Opera or Bolt). I kept the 19.99 plan for a while until I needed BES for work e-mail and was forced to switch.

I used the sidekick plan when I had an iPhone, HTC Touch dual, BB 8120 (wothout BIS/BES), and a Wing. They all worked fine with zero limitations (obviously excluding the BIS/BES registration). It even works on dumbphones.
