Default Data Plan/Text Messaging Question

I'm seriously thinking of getting the 8900 even though no 3G. From what I've read here, I'm convinced it won't be a big deal for casual web browsing. If I am too unhappy with it, I will just get the Driftwood or whatever it will be called in the fall.

Anyways, I am currently on a family plan with unlimited text messaging. I'm going to get the $24.99 data plan if I get the 8900. I rather not pay extra for the 400 text message part of it but I've already called twice and said they don't offer the $19.99 data plan anymore.

My question is, will I actually have only 400 messages since thats what the data plan includes or will I still have unlimited messages since thats what my family has? Hope this isn't a stupid question and thanks in advance.

If you have the family time unlimited messaging for 19.95, then you will have unlimited messages, not 400.

Like the op, I'm on a family plan with unlimited texting for $9.99, no data. If I get the 8900, will my data be $24.99? I thought I read somewhere that you can still get the $19.99 plan if you had the code and were a long time customer with a clean record, and be really nice to the cs rep.

Yep, call retentions with the code "PREFBBBIS" and be nice but be stern.
It may talk a few different calls but don't give up.

From what I heard, TMO is raising the rates. That's what a representative told me a few days ago. I don't know how true it is though.

The rate chang is coming but I don't think it will be to bad. For the people that already have tmo. The rate change will not effect you at all just new customers.

New rates kicked in yesterday, June 3rd. Unlimited web and messages are still 34.99. Biggest change for BB users is the 24.99 bundle NOT including 400 messages any longer. It is simply web only.
