Default Data Only Rate Plans Are Returning

There have been communications recently about more flexibility coming the EM/EM+ plans. Some of these have mentioned the return of the voice barred plans, which would mean BIS and text only. I know there are a decent amount of members here who would love to see them return. I think they offer more options to fit a greater range of potential customers.

There isn't much hard info on them yet. The only thing I've been able to pin down is that there will be a $39.99 BIS only option. Text and minutes would be pay per use. It is listed as an Even More, which would mean a contract. I'm assuming the text add-on would still be $10, which would give a total rate of $49.99 for internet, email, and text. That would make it $5 less than the old plans.

The questions I would like to have answered are as follows:

1 - Will there be an EM+ equivalent?
2 - If they offer an EM+ version, will it be the same $10 price difference we see between the EM and EM+ voice plans?
3 - Will this be available for Flexpay? This would be perfect for international travelers.

I will add info as I receive it. Let me know if there are any questions you would like answered.

Wow, this is great.

I wonder if these data-only plans could be used with devices like Android and the like.

This is going to making a lot of people happy. Thanks for posting!

If it's Blackberry data, I'm almost certain you won't be able to use it with Android, they would have to make an Android plan..

T-Mobile should integrate MyFaves into the new family plans.. that would make them perfect.

Thanks for jogging my memory. The only such plans I could find were BIS and Sidekick. No Android or generic smartphone plans.

I'm confused, I switched to a BlackBerry in December and signed with with a "Data Only" plan. I have BES with unlimited data, 300 SMS, and 500 Call forwarding minutes for $39.95 per month. Calls are pay per use at 40¢ per minute.

It is on the tmobile website now. The only catch is that it is $10 more.
The Internet only plans (BIS or smartphone) are now at $49.99!!!
No text messages included. Voice at $0.45 / minute.

ctrad45,
are you refering to the $19.99 old + Unlimited Web BIS add-on?

I think that one is gone since Fall'08 when the android phone got introduced and the data plans bumped to $24.99... I think the only way to have it is to be grandfathered in it. Sorry :-(

Yeah the 19.99 BIS plan is gone for good.

The only way you can get "gf" rates (that's 24.99 for data or 34.99 for msg too) still is if you're on an old plan. I upgraded to the Bold with my Unlimited Loyalty AFTER EM/EM+ were released, and I easily got on the old 34.99 BIS plan.

That pricing is on contract only.

I got some of my above questions answered today.

It IS available for Flexpay, and on a month-to-month basis. $39.99 internet only. $10 more for unlimited text. These prices are the month to month prices. Contract is $10 more.

That's a good question. I would say no, because I believe Google Voice still places a call in a proxy manner. I'm honestly not sure though. Only way to know for sure would be to try it

The contract plan isn't a terrible deal, but the minute rate is atrocious. .45 cents a minute is highway robbery

I still have $24.99 data on my Even More plan..
