Default Curve 8300 internet problems? help?!

Hey everyone (:
I am new to my blackberry...but have some background knowledge of them.
I have an unlocked 8300 from AT&T but my provider is T-mobile.

I am trying to get the internet working on the phone but when I go onto t-zones there is a message that says

"unable to connect to the WAP gateway"

...everytime I try to run opera it says that its installing and does nothing...

what do i do? besides calling t mobile for help?

any suggestions?

Are you sure that data services are turned on. Go to options/mobile network and see if it is turned on.

Have you acessed the internet with this phone yet?

If not you may want to check your applications folder. If you don't have the proper browser apps, then you might try to send service books.

Are you sure you have an internet plan?

Search the forums here for T-Mobile APN settings. I think you need to change the APN from wap.cingular to wap.voicestream or something close to that.

Options>Advanced Options>TCP. APN should say wap.voicestream.com Nothing under user name or password.

I dont know if it helps...

the exact full message that comes up when im trying to access tzones is:

"unable to connect to the WAP gateway at the following address:
APN:wap.voicestream.com
IP:216.155.165.50
Port: 9201"

what does that mean?

It means you should probably call your carrier to make sure all of your data provisioning flags are set on your account. If this is your first BlackBerry, and your plan had a different internet plan for a regular phone, you are going to need to switch it to a BlackBerry-specific data plan for BIS support.
