Default Coverage in Northern California

Could anybody give me an idea of how t-mobile coverage is in northern California? Especially how it is by Beale AFB.

This is from personal experience. For me, coverage was spotty at best. It seems that no matter where I am, I get no more than 2 or 3 bars of signal at the most. Not really a problem if I need to make a phone call. But for browsing the internet with my phone, it was a REAL problem. The little data arrows would be going crazy. I'd watch the signal meter...all of a sudden there would be a red x, followed by SOS. Irritating as heck, especially when I was outdoors in San Francisco ( a major metropolitan city where coverage should NOT be an issue) but same thing. If I ever move back to socal, I'd head right back to t-mobile because there, the coverage is excellent. Here, not so much. I don't know where this AFB you asked about is, but I'm about an hour southwest of Sacramento. I've also had reception issues in Sac.

My suggestion is to try it...see if it's going to work for you. You DO have 30 days to cancel and try another carrier.

If coverage is important to you in a specific area, and that is the critical factor in your decision as to what carrier to use, I have a recommendation. Spend $25 bucks and buy a pre-paid card and test the service in your own realm of use. If that doesn't work for you for any reason, start talking to people around you when you see them with a cell phone and ask them who they use and if they are happy with their carrier.

Northern California runs from the lettuce fields of Salinas to the wine vineyards of Napa and from the tech labs of the Silicon Valley to the financial centers of San Francisco. All carriers are going to have specific areas where they are strong and not so strong.

From my experience, T-Mobile is darn strong wherever you go in California. Keep in mind that the network T-Mobile owns and uses in California is the original one that T-Mobile and AT&T formerly shared. It cracks me up when I see AT&T customers saying their network is better than T-Mobile's because by and large since AT&T's merger between Cingular and the former AT&T Wireless (when the FCC stipulated that AT&T had to sell their partnership in the California network outright to T-Mobile), AT&T have essentially been tenants on what is now T-Mobile's California network. LOL. Yeah like the tenant is going to get better service than the owner. Ya gotta love people.

I've been with tmobile for a couple of years in the Sac area.

It's been pretty solid for the most part but indoors is another story (but that may be with most carriers). I can barely get a signal inside my office at work and I'd say 80% of the time I get no coverage indoors at least at work. At home it's fine... except this one issue I have now with it staying on GSM for some reason.

God I love being in the tree hugging hippy capital (northwest). Carriers all have a dead zone no matter who you go with. Do research, but not by asking the carrier, they will tell you that of course coverage is great. Ya. Yank.

Sorry Berryite. Could you please clarify what you mean by Att are tenants on Tmo's network? Are they currently using Tmo's network even though they sold the rights? Thanks in advance.

Oh. I live in so cal, and I can confirm that reception here is GREAT! I get reception almost everywhere I go, while other carriers like Att, sprint, and sometimes Verizon have no bars. I am definitely satisfied with reception and customer service.
