Couple Questions About International Calling and TMO

Hello world! I just have a couple questions regarding international calling, mainly to Mexico.

1) Does TMO have an international calling plan? Reason I ask, is my brother just moved down there and I'm looking to get him a cell phone to keep in contact with him. I would rather do this through TMO since I'm already a customer with them and I really don't want to start an account with TelCel (cell company in Mexico)!

2) How much would the international plan cost?

3) If the feature is not available, how much would it cost to make direct calls to Mexico? I could easily use calling cards but they're kind of a PITA to use! But if it's going to be too expensive, then I'm gonna have to get used to using them!

They used to have an international plan from what I understand. I would call Customer Care to get the details. Typically roaming charges outside of the US vary pending what country it is.

You're going to want to get an account with TelCel, or be sure that he only uses the phone while having UMA coverage. Roaming in Mexico is $1.49/minute.

I'm really leaning towards going through TelCel, especially if it's going to cost that much while roaming! Gonna go look up their plans and see what they got going on. Thanks for that little bit of info!

On the my T-Mobile site you can activate world service for free to make sure the roaming coverage works.

There is another option coming in May.
Skype.com will have BB available for download.
They do not say how it will be used but in the worst case the skype program will phone a local Mexico number and connect to the internet. Then if you have skype unlimited US/MX/CAN @2.95/month to landlines, you will have just local charge not an international call.
Then, when in MX purchase a local prepaid SIM card.
In the best case the skype call will be free through your unlimited BB data plan

You will also be able to phone from US, unlimited, to a land line to much of, but not all, Mexico for the monthly charge. OR, you can pay per call at about 2 1/2 cents a minute.

There is a discount dial to MX for 5.99. So to call a landline is .07 cents a minute, and to call a mobile is .26 cents a minute. Check the link for other countries.
