Default Cincinnati coverage?

I've always been w/ Cincy Bell and never really had a problem w/ the phone service, so when I made the leap to a BB I stuck w/ them.
I got an 8900 and everything was fine until we went out of town - Columbus, Akron, Youngstown - and my data/email/internet was almost nonexistant.
I returned the phone but feel like I need another BB.
I was all set to order the free 8900 thru T-Mobile on Amazon but then I got to looking at the Tour - my one complaint about the 8900 was the small keys.
Now I'm looking at the Driftwood hopefully coming in the Fall....

I know many people w/ Verizon around here and they all seem happy but I don't know of anyone on T-Mo. I would rather go with T-Mo and save the $$$ every month and have the free tethering when going somewhere w/o wi-fi. But I would do VZW is they are really that much better around here.

So, how is the T-Mobile network in Southern Ohio?
Any idea when 3g will hit Ohio?

thanks for any feedback

Yeah, I know everyone has coverage maps but I'm not sure you can always trust those.
I was just asking for "real word" experiences.

FWIW, I live on the Southeast side and work in Blue Ash
