Default cheaper unlimited data plans

I was just curious to know whether there were cheaper unlimited data plans for smartphones and bb's out there. I know that tmo charges 30 bucks for that plan but are there any 3rd party retailers out there like walmart or best buy that offer that plan for less. 120 bucks of internet on 3 smartphones seems a bit too expensive for me.

I don't know where you live, but MetroPCS has very aggressive price points for their smart phones. $50-60/mo, unlimited everything (voice, data, etc, fees, taxes included). They seem to have good roaming agreements, and they have their own LTE networks rolling out too. It's prepaid, so you'll pay more upfront for the devices.

Read the fine print, it might be for you. None of the major carriers have anything near that, and you might get what you pay for.... I've never used them, and they only offer the 8530 Curve as far as BlackBerry goes.

$30 x 3 = $90

You might also trying to bargain them into the preferred $20 or discounted $25 per phone since you you are signing up 3 lines.

The cheapest unlimited data package you can get for smartphones is the "preferred" data plan at $20.

Yeah preferred is cheaper but a 3rd party company won't be able to do this, at least in my experience. That's is the loyalty or retentions department that can cut the deals on this usually.

The plans are set by TMO as a company, so no retailer will have power over them. As mentioned above, you may be able to get a different rate through loyalty, provided you've been a customer for a reasonable (>3 years) length of time.

This.

We've been with T-Mobile since 2005. However, my wife's phone never had data on it until 2009. After I added it on the website (for $25/month), I called customer retention and got it knocked down to $19.99.

I had to cancel data on my line when I left the US for a year so technically I was supposed to get the $29.99 plan when I added it back. I went on the website, added it back, called customer retention and they put it back down to $19.99.

Depending on how many times you've called T-Mobile, your payment history, and the length left on your contract, the CSRs at retention have quite a bit of leeway. I had a CSR explain thsi too me. For a more "high" maintenance customer, the less "rewards" you'll get. Just remember to be nice when talking to a CSR, they can get what you need. If you call up ranting and raving for something you want, they don't have to do it.

YMMV.
