Default Change Protocol Option

Has anyone been successful in changing the protocol from POP to the Mobile Services Protocol for a Hotmail email account on their phone.? It says that by changing to this protocol, it offers real-time message deliver and reconciliation of opened and unopened messages.

Whenever i try to add choose "change protocol", i get an error message saying "Your deice enocuntered a problem with tis application's serer. Select OK and repeat the action to try again."

Has anyone been getting this.?

I'm getting the same thing. It's really frustrating.

At least now I know that I'm not the only one. It really is rather frustrating.

I tried it on my 9700 (I'm with Fido in Canada) with three different Hotmail accounts and they all get the same error. Then I tried it on my sister's 8900 (she's with Rogers in Canada) with other Hotmail accounts and they get the same error as well.

It must be something on Microsoft's end, or maybe RIM. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Wow, if that message showed up on my phone I would throw my phone away and never use a bb ever again...

Rim is trying to tell me that the protocol is no longer being used. But wo weeks ago before i switched over to the 9700 and took the emails off the system and then back on fresh with the new phone, everything stopped working. I also wiped the 8900 when i changed phones, so whatever settings/service books were there are now gone....but i was recving my emails faster then, cause i did have the new protocol while using the 8900. I'm just upset that i have to wait so long to get emails delivered.

I wonder why RIM decided to drop that feature. It was a really great feature getting Hotmail emails on my BlackBerry on almost at the exact same time it gets sent to my inbox on the Hotmail server. And it helps with other apps that might be linked to the email, such as Facebook and whatever.

Pretty big disappointment. I liked the idea of getting emails instantly on my phone. If they find a way to release a feature that does the protocol change for all emails (ie. for Gmail, Hotmail, etc.), then I guess that's okay. As long as I can get emails almost instantly. It's very helpful when no longer at home or in the office.

But the way it is now, it's upsetting.

Ok, so i just logged into my tmobile account, went to emails ad the change protocol option showed up. I clicked the button and accepted the terms and condition....and i guess i no longer will have to wait 13 minutes to recv hotmail emails on my phone. You should also know that when i did it, the emails that were in my hotmail folder on my blackberry all dissapeared....which was no problem for me.
