Default Can WallyWorld do this?

I've got a turned off 8320 Curve (Tmob) that I want to use in Europe via UMA. There's no Tmobile retail store where I live anymore (Prescott AZ), but there are a couple of Walmarts. Do you think they activate the phone on a month to month basis, assign a phone number, etc? It's got the SIM in it.

I dunno about TMo, but Sprint wouldn't let me even add a new line without getting a 2 year contract.

Here is an option. get the phone unlocked, so you can use a local SIM while in Europe for making calls while visiting and you won't have to pay international roaming rates to your stateside carrier. And you can use Wifi all you want while there.

Now if you must have BBM and full internet access with a Blackberry data plan, you may be able to do a prepaid or pay as you go option while in Europe as well.

Thanks for that. What I want is to use UMA to call/txt our US contacts for free using WiFi. I don't know if I could do that with a local SIM in the phone, I think I'll need Tmob right? I can use GoogleVoice and make local calls pretty cheap. Thanks

You will need an active TM SIM to use UMA.

Mike is correct, you'd need a TMO SIM to use UMA. You'd just need to make sure you do not have the cellular radio on, unless you have international voice and data plans activated, otherwise you will be dealing with international roaming rates, which are not cheap if not added to your account.

Blkbear hit the nail on the head. If using a TM SIM, set your BB for wifi connection only. If you jump to cell tower, you can easily run up thousands in data charges, unknowingly. Lots of data apps run in the background. Lots of horror stories out there on 4 and 5 figure bills.
TM has no intl. data plan except for 67 cents a day you can activate unlimited BB email for the time you are overseas. It only covers email and attachments within emails. There is no intl. roaming voice plan w. TM (or any other U.S. carrier). $1/min in most of Europe on TM. $1 to $1.29 on Vz and att.
