Default Broadband hotspot questions for tech challange.

I am a tech challenged person who hopes someone can help me out. Thanks

Currently have the $19.99 grandfathered BB data plan that lets me tether my devices free. With the announcement of the os upgrade for BB i was wondering if this would effect my use by using this and how. Basically which is better and in the long run what it would cost me . Would using this new feature cost me any tethering fees?
If that was a dumb question sorry! Just trying to figure my best options.

For a different phone.....

Also, about the mobile 4g hotspot. I use this with a laptop while away from home. Is it better to keep the 4g hotspot or just now use the new OS upgrade and tether from my phone( this phone has the android data plan) and drop the 4g broadband hotspot. The current 4g hotspot plan I have is the $19.99 broadband plan . When you tether from your phone using this new os upgrade to a laptop is there a limit on usage.

Sorry if I didn't phrase these questions right.i am so technically challenged it's shameful.

There's no need to apologize SandAngel . There's quite a bit of confusion regarding the hotspot issues and how carriers are going to deal with it (i.e. bill usage separately, honor the tethering plans, etc.)

Your profile shows that you have a 8900. If that's still true, your device will NOT be getting the operating system upgrade that enables Wi-Fi hotspot. That feature is currently available on OS 7, which your phone is not capable of running. So this new introduction makes no difference to your usage/billing, as your phone will work the same.

I don't want to take a shot at answering the second question, because I may be wrong and don't want to give you any wrong information. Hopefully someone else will be able to give you a definitive answer.

Yes I am on the 8900 but ready to upgrade very soon. My 8900 is on it's last leg and working kind of wonky now.

Most likely the 2GB soft cap will be imposed on it. You'll never hit that in a month on an 8900, but it's definitely possible if you go to a 9900 and start tethering it. If 2GB is enough, in your opinion, dropping the hotspot in favor of using the phone is definitely cheaper.
