Default bold on pay as you go

Hi.
I just activated my (ATT unlocked) Bold 9000 on the TMobile pay as you go plan. I was aware that I would not have BBM or the native email as I'm not on a plan where I could add BIS service, and I don't need either of them. But I do want to be able to use data occasionally through the $1.49/day web pass. My problem is that the browser (native browser or Opera mini--I've tried both) won't connect to the Tzones website so that I can buy the day pass. I just get an error message that I need to connect to wifi, but I know that I can't buy the web pass over wifi. I'm sure there's something else I need to be doing to make this work--can anyone please help me out with some advice?
Thanks!

Extremely stupid question but I just want to double check: The $10 BIS pack uses your 30/100MB allotment from your plan, right? If it's routed through RIM's servers, how does TMO regulate that?

Also, BIS services still work over WiFi provided you've added the BIS package?

Do you think RIM has a cellular network setup or do you think that maybe the data is routed through the carrier and passed through to the RIM NOC.
