Bold 9700 official os update

Is the official os update for the bold 9700 on t-mobile coming after all or not ?

Appears it was delayed until the 18th at the earliest, or possibly the 26th of this month and it is supposed to be OTA

According to their official forum, it is still being released tomorrow, which is 5-18-2010.

T-Mobile has quickly worked through all the issues that arose with the new software and we are happy to announce that the updated software for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 will be available on May 18th. You will need to tether your device to download the software. Please visit Unsupported Browser and follow the instructions for the BlackBerry Bold 9700.



Included fixes and changes in the MR are:



* Increase general stability for the software
* New separate icon for BES e-mail
* Improvements to chat view SMS user interface
* Improved BlackBerry Messenger client
* General Visual Voicemail improvements
* Resolve 3G dropped call issue

Wait a minute.. So they didn't do any more tweaking to the one you posted? They just delayed the release?

That doesn't make sense, unless if it is a .586 version, than it must be slightly different than the initial release. If it is the same, then why delaying it if it had bugs and not fix it. If it's the same, then it isn't gonna help any.

just talked to tmo today, and they told me the new os will be put out tomorrow the 19th

well did not get it for OTA but i got the update when i backed up my berry with desktop manager. its v 5.0.0.586
Just looked at the t-mo site and its not up on there yet.

i received an email from RIM stating to go to blackberry.com/update. 586 shows up through DM so i guess its live just not through tmobile yet.

The delay could very well be on Tmobile side and not the OS. Up until the 17th we were able to upgrade via OTA, but that has since changed and now we need Desktop Manager. I am thinking issues with OTA held this one up.

.586 is .586. If there were "tweaks" then the OS number would have changed. Just a fact. This is the dame OS update from a month or so ago. .656 has been out a few weeks and its the most stable and least "buggy" update to date...
