Default blackberry plan to android plan

I currently have a bb 8320 and i am really thinking about going to the samsung vibrant when my contract is up. i pay $19.99 for the bb add-on right now. if i change to the andriod is tmo gonna charge the standard $30 data plan when i switch? if they are can i complain and get them to charge me the same because the 2 plans are basically the same? they are the same right?

You will loose your grandfathered price if you switch to Android. You will not loose it if you change to another Berry.

Don't pay the $30. Call in to get the Vibrant and get the $25 plan. It's available for those on older plans.

There is a $25 plan for unlim BB and another for unlim Android. Get the Vibrant and then call in and say you want to use your BB so could they switch it back to the $25 BB plan. This plan will be able to be used on both. No VVM on Android though.

You'll be paying an extra 60/year with my idea but you'll be able to use BOTH phones as you like.

Well technically it COULD work but you'd have to keep the BB 19.99 plan permanently. You can't switch to Android data and then go back to the 19.99 plan. It's really old.

The $25 plan is the cheapest option. CSR is fine to switch it over for customers on older plans but the 19.99 one is long gone.

Thanks Artemis. So your saying that i would have both plans on the same line? Both phones would function, but i would lose VVM(not sure what this is) on the vibrant. I couldnt switch the bb to another line unless i wanted to pay the $25 for both?

Oh no...that's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying that the $25 BB plan will work for both Android and Blackberry. You just won't get VVM (visual voicemail access) on the Vibrant. You'll just have that one $25 BB plan on your line. You can switch SIMs between phones whenever you want and your data will function just fine on either one.

BB data seems to work on other smartphones as well as BBs. You need to have a BB data plan with a BB to get all that push email and other RIM features. an Android plan works fine on Android but you won't have access to RIM servers if you use it on a Blackberry.

You're not able to have 2 data plans on 1 line anyway.

I wish you could do that!!! No, unfortunately you can only have one data package per line. I wish I could have a BB, Android, and two fully insured phones on one line, but instead I have to call in and have my feature changed when I decide to change between my phones. BOO!!! I really hate the phone specific features for every single phone, but I understand it.

BeyondtheBox,

As I told roly, just the Blackberry plan will work. Keep a BB data plan on your account and it should work fine with your Android, BB, and other devices. There is no need to call in each time to switch things over. Really kind of ruins the convenience of having a swappable SIM card.

Uh... you may want to check on this. I have the 25 dollar BB plan and a G1 and I cant switch back and forth tmo locks the data out if I switch to the G1. I have called CS and talked to a couple of people and they say that there is nothing that can be done. I would apparently have to call anytime I want to use the other data plan and have it changed.

My opinion call CS and double check that before you do anything..

Yes I have experience w tmobile activation and those data plans are not interchangeable. They are two separate plans. You will have to call and change everytime you switch. I have tour and vibrant and must do so. Beware of proration if ur doing this.
