Default Becoming One of You!

Hello all. I'm switching to T-mobile after the first of the year as they have the best signal at my work and home. I'm new to GSM and SIM cards though as I have been with Sprint for over 9 years. I look forward to the freedom that SIM cards will bring, but also fear messing something up if I ever decide to swap phones myself!

I haven't settled on a phone yet. I got a Cliq off of ebay, but may also get the 9700. I love everything on Blackberries, but web browsing. I have to use the web browser at work as my work internet blocks a lot of sites (in the military). I'm just torn on what to do.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I can't wait to join the T-mobile family!

Oh yes, SIM cards give you a lot of freedom. If you're a phone swapper, then GSM is the place for YOU. Don't worry about "messing something up" though. T-Mobile is good about not changing your account without your permission. Cliq should work on most any data plans, but BB needs a specific Blackberry data plan. So if you're planning to switch between a Blackberry and another device (like the Cliq) I suggest getting a BB data plan, as it WILL work on both.

Web browsing is still quite subpar on berries, I have to admit. Of course, if you want to use the internet at work, you can always tether. Did you know that T-Mobile lets you tether at no extra charge when you have a smartphone data plan (which you'd be using with a BB or a Cliq anyway!). It's true. Blackberries are GREAT for tethering, and if you have 3G at work, you're good to go.

Welcome to T-Mobile. Everything Artemis said is right. Save yourself the headache now and get the BB feature added to your plan.

9700 - fully functional, fast and with OperaMini 5.0 web browser the web browsing is acceptable. The tethering is a definite plus.

My son has the Cliq and loves it - but he loves it because of the games and social networking.

If you want a toy phone with a lot of experimental apps use the Cliq, if you want a phone that has perfected basic phone funtions, i.e. phone, email, music player, sms, im, mms, then definitely get the 9700

Thanks to everyone for the welcoming as well as the advice on the devices. I am definitely interested in the tethering info. I just need to figure out how to tether with my macbook!

Thanks again!
