BB messenger problem

My sister bought a second hand bb curve 8900 off of ebay.
and she is on a contract with t-mobile (nothing to do with the blackberry) however she does have web n walk data plan.

The problem is i have tried to add her on bb messenger and it stays pending on my bb, and doesn't even show up on hers, and the other way around..when she tries adding me.

I done a quick google, and am I right in thinking this is becuase she doesn't have a bb data plan?

and the only fix for this is to buy a bb data plan?

She can use the internet with her tmobile web n walk, can this be used for bb messenger?

BBM requires a BlackBerry data plan.

she will prob be able to get this as a addon for around £5 extra I guess?

Yes, it will work with a BlackBerry data plan. I'm not sure of the price, since I am in the US.
