Default bb as home internet

Ok b/c I lost my job I had to cancel my cable internet and am using my data plan, which works ok. My main annoyance is that I have to connect my phone to the cord to the laptop. the cord always gets in the way...Is there another way to do this? Does tmobile have a cordless option that doesn't have a monthly fee?

Gets in the way of what? The BB being plugged in for internet?
Why not tether it over bluetooth? That may eliminate some clutter.

Sorry to hear about your job loss.

Thanks. The cord gets in the way b/c the phone has to attach to the usb port via the cord. I'd like a cordless option or something smaller that goes into the usb and talks to the phone w/o a cord. How spendy is the bluetooth option?

Bluetooth tethering costs nothing extra, assuming your computer has Bluetooth built-in or you have a USB Bluetooth adapter for it.

I tether an hour or two every day during my train ride. Bluetooth tethering can drain your phone battery 40% in an hour. So if battery life is important to you, stick with USB tethering.

I think he may have meant *speedy*

If so, the answer is, not that fast. Fast enough to check e-mail and do some light surfing, but nothing intense.

I get about 140 kb/s down and 40 kb/s up

USB Bluetooth adaptors are dirt cheap these days. My Bold is pretty quick when tethered. 3G FTW.
