Default BB Feature Enabler No Longer Available?

Hey guys tried adding the feature enabler a couple times between the last week and the reps are telling me that its no longer available. Is this true? I'm trying to get oz messenger working because I pretty much only use this as a phone and for texting but it would be great to have aim back on my phone.

I downloaded a setup file but its from att. I understand that ill probably need the service books for it to work anyway but I'm trying to see if there are any workarounds for that. I know I really should get a data plan, but I can't really justify it because I would never use it.

On another note this forums been really helpful, I appreciate any information. Thanks

No idea if they cancelled the feature enabler, I would try calling back and asking again. Other than that, it may be possible to back up service books from another blackberry and restore them to yours. Not sure if it works, but have read that people are able to do it.

So it's true they removed it? That's sooo lame.

Must be a part of T-Mobile's push toward getting all BB users onto a data plan.

This is false information. I got my curve 8900 3 days ago and added the "Blackberry Feature Enabler" to it... still shows up in the services on this line at my tmobile. I can still send and receive mms and i installed palringo for im messaging since the default im programs on the BB are set to only work if you have a data plan. So yes the feature enabler is still allowed... at least as of 3 days ago. just call cs and tell them you want to add the BB Feature Enabler... that should be all there is to it

They are now only allowed to add the scaled-down Blackberry Feature Enabler that allows MMS, but not IM programs. This change went into effect at the beginning of June.

It wasn't T-Mobile's decision, it was the result of an audit by Blackberry/RIM. The same audit now requires a data plan for many phones, although the 8220 was excluded from that requirement.

When i cancelled my data plan a couple months back the REP added it for me.

So, if we ALREADY ahve it on our plans can they remove it without notifying us?

No, those who had it prior to the June change get to keep it.

To get your MMS to work, just take a picture with your 8320 and send it to yourself at yourphonenumber@tmomail.net. This is ALL that is needed to get MMS to work. I have done this with my last two smartphones (AT&T Samsung Blackjack and my Curve 8320) and it works. T-Mobile's system just needs to know that your phone is capable of sending/receiving MMS and by doing this, it registers your phone's ability to do this.

I did speak with a tmobile rep and they said that the feature enabler is not offered anymore, but if your MMS is not working they can send you the service books to correct that.
