Default battery pull????

I was on the phone with a tech rep yesterday about some issues and he told me i should be doing a BATTERY PULL each day. Not a regular shutting off the phone but actual battery pull for my 8900 to make it keep working correctly.

How can this be right. I have never heard of doing a battery pull everyday and who the heck wants to do THAT!

I do a battery pull every 3 days just about on my Curve. It keeps it fresh and quick.

I'm a n00b to blackberries, does battery pull mean actually pulling the physical battery out? I've heard the term a lot and was wondering if that was the only real hard reboot.

Totally unnecessary to do that and the rep is a moron to tell you that. I do a soft reset maybe once a week which is holding down the "alt" "right shift" and "delete" keys for a second at the same time.....this bassically is all you really need unless your blackberry were to crash or freeze up in which case you can do a battery pull...........I have had many blackberrys over the years and bassically my curve and bold I can get away with just doing the soft reset as mentioned above about once a week or so..........in the almost nine months I have had my bold on T-Mobile I have only had to do a battery pull twice. You can also go into "options" then check "status" and get an idea of how much file free space you have available.....if it starts getting down to around 20,000,000 then you will want to do a soft reset and check after that in status then you will see how much free'd up memory you gained by doing just the soft reset.

So in closing just do a soft reset with the keyboard maybe once a week or so and check your file free in the status area to get an idea of how often it might help to do the soft reset in your particular case.

The answer is yes .. pull out the battery then put back and turn the phone on.

If you turn off the phone with the red button you are only putting the phone into hybernation
Use the free quickpull program available from Appworld. Have the phone auto reset every day (in the middle of the night) when you are normally asleep (unless you are a night owl..then all bets are off).

The reset only takes a couple of minutes and will clear out the memory.
