This is, unfortunately, a redundant thread, as the 2.0 is still very active. You're more than welcome to help out with questions there if you would like.

I am running a BB Torch on T-Mo. For some reason, I can't access cnn.com or m.cnn.com.

If I do it while on EDGE I get an error message that "This is a wi-fi service and to make sure I have a wi-fi connection. If I do it whike on wi-fi I get some other error (I don't have wi-fi right now and I can't remember the exact message).

Any ideas? Its a weird one...

Woot, another T-Mobile Rep here. Norris has been a very nice and helpful guy here for a long time. But it will be more helpful if we have more T-Mo Rep here ^__^

I have a question:

I ported my number from T-Mobile to Verizon on July, I heard about the bold 9780 is coming to T-Mobile on Nov 17th, so I decided to go back because Verizon don't have the best BB (to me) on the list.

I contacted T-Mo business department today and requested porting back my number from Verizon in order to re-activatae my old rate plan (350 myFave + 20 preferred BB plan + 10 unl texting). The guy on the phone is every friendly and said that possible to do. So I gave him my infomation to process it.

How long it would take to get my number back to T-Mobile? And how can I know that because I don't have my T-Mo sim and phone now? Can you please help me to follow up the case?

Thanks a lot

I have a Storm 2 that worked great until not too long ago...spent hours trying to get it to work so far...I have an all unlimited plan...but the phone only shows GSM now, which of course also means I have no internet other than wi-fi. I just logged into My.Tmobile.Com to attempt tp resend my service books via wi-fi and I see this notice...

Change Device

To change to your new BlackBerry® device, your new device must be active with your wireless service provider. Complete the following steps:
Note: The process is different if your device has a SIM Card.
I do not have a SIM card (CDMA devices)

To activate your new device, contact T-Mobile US . Verify that your radio is turned on and that your device is connected to the wireless network.

Once your new device is activated and you are connected to the wireless network, click the Detect New Device button below to switch to your new device.

I have a SIM card

Insert your SIM card into your new device and verify that your device is connected to the wireless network.

Once your new device is activated and you are connected to the wireless network, click the Detect New Device button below to switch to your new device.

What does this mean? More specifically, is it stating that by having a CDMA/SIM device it is no longer supported, thus my S2 is a paperweight?

Thanks in advance.

The porting of your number shouldnt be an issue as long as verizon will release it...the success rate for porting of numbers from verizon is like 99.98% I have only ever had a number port request get denied 2 times and they were from regional carriers. However...the rate plan that you mention is no longer available with T-mobile. I would question the rep you spoke to and his knowledge (he may be newer) As far as I know, once you are no longer a customer or change your plan you cannot go back to a plan that we no longer offer. If you stay on an old plan you can be grandfathered in on that plan..but once you switch to a new plan you cannot go back to an old one.

Would you know anything about the HSPA network? A sales guy at TMobile let me play with the new myTouch and Motorola Defy in the store, and I noticed in the top bar, the myTouch had "H" next to the signal meter, when I went online just now thinking about it, my city (even state) isn't in the "Live" HSPA/4G coverage map.. Does H mean something entirely different?

EDIT to add: I also had a very similar problem as oregonchickfan.. Only I have a tmobile branded 9700. I've had multiple calls to tmobile and no one has been able to help me. They submitted a help ticket to the tech people and RIM but when they called back a few days later, I was in class so asked them to call at 3, they said they would. Well they never did. And when I called back, I was waiting for an hour in between long hold times and eventually the call got disconnected while I was waiting.

Is there something more of an outtage anywhere cause the issue? Or should I give tmobile another call

Once you give the number transfer department your verizon account number and PIN and or password on the verizon account it normally takes up to 24 hours and you would receive a text message informing you of the transfer when it is complete...since you dont have a SIM card and device yet, Im not sure...typically we issue the customer a temporary t-mobile number when we activate a new line for them then we call the number transfer center and give them the other carriers account info for them to process

Oregonchickfan -
Need to clarify a few things...
Do you currently have T-mobile service?
You need an active SIM card activated with a Blackberry data plan on it.
It does need to be registered with the T-mobile network.

The "H" you see in the top bar denotes HSPA+ coverage. Currently the only devices T-Mobile offers that are specifically designed to operate on the new HSPA+ network are the HTC G2 and the MyTouch HD. Where in Michigan are you located? While you may not live in an area that is currently "live" with HSPA+ the engineering department may be doing diagnostic testing and or preparing towers in your area for the upgrade in the future, therefore you may see the "H" appear at times as they are doing those tests.

Thats what I figured at first, was the H for HSPA then saw the map and doubted myself. It was in Flint on the the MyTouch HD. Do TMobile stores have their own mini towers or the like to advertise the speed/capabilities of the phones?

And not sure if you saw the edit, but I can answer the questions you asked oregonchickfan about the same error about the device change:
I have tmobile service with bb data plan
I have used many blackberrys before this one
The my account home page shows my phone as 9700
TMobile shows my correct IMEI and PIN from my 9700
The email setup on my phone does not work (when i click 'move' it errors)
The TMobile BIS site says im using a pearl (I used a pearl before the 8900, then a nokia e71, e72, then n79, then the 9700 again currently)

On the BIS site when I get the same error oregonchickfan quoted, I click the "Detect new device" button and then I get an error.

It is very possible that T-Mobile stores are equipped with those speed capabilities for demo purposes but i am not completely sure about that...I am in an area where HSPA+ is live. As for the BB issue...man really not sure what the deal is...I would think that if the correct IMEI and PIN show in the system and the correct BB data plan is configured on that line that there shouldnt be an issue...one question though...are you using BES? (the BB Enterprise server to access corporate email)
