    Default 9900 release on T-mobile?

I dropped into my local T-mobile store today (the big one, not a kiosk) and asked about the 9900 release date.

The rep was really nice, and seemed to know what he was talking about.

He said he had not seen anything about an imminent release, leading him to think it would be the end of August or into Sept.

    I know we've seen/heard Aug. 31, so that's still seems possible.

I was a little disappointed that he didn't know anything else (or if he did, he wasn't telling me). [I was secretly hoping he had a 9900 in the back!]

I'm still hoping for Aug. 31st.

Let me know if your TMO rep has any more info.

I just ended a chat with a TMO rep, and he mentioned the system shows "coming soon" only. I directed him to the TmoNews release date article, and mentioned the release date, but he said that or any other date is not shown in his system as the release date.

So, we are still officially in the dark.

They might be keeping it a secret or they truly do not know much. I called every single T-Mobile store in my area a couple days ago and they all gave me the same answer. Literally. "It should be sometime late August or early September. We will be going into training on the 17th." One rep was nice enough to tell me to give her a call back on the 18th because she will be done with "training". She said she will give me all the information that they'll give her. So, I am just waiting till the 18th to get some more information unless someone else on here has more updated information.

Main concerns I want to know is the pricing, UMA capable, hot spot, and of course, release date.

I was told Aug 23rd. I was given this date when I made an inquiry on Thursday this week (11 Aug) to customer retention.

With that price paying for price for it almost makes more sense.

That pricing is killer on that site, I'm ok with $249 just how the competition is pricing it. Would be sweeter if T-Mobile does the $199 scheme, that will throw some deuces in the air!

I got tired of the waiting game and went Andriod again. I am gonna hold out for QNX, then maybe come back as I really do love bb, just do seem to be way out of updated tech.

    Thumbs down

Hey CB!, I'm also tired of waiting around without knowing when it is being released by T-Mobile so I wrote my opinion on their Facebook page and I know it will most likely never be read by anyone that will be able to do anything, bt hey maybe I get a reply.. Anywho.. there it is..

"When are you guys releasing the Blackberry Bold 9900? I have prepaid service with you guys but I don't know when the phone is coming and I'm tired of waiting around, if I still dont here from you in a few days I will contract with Verizon.. Ever since the news of a merger with AT&T you guys are lagging in every aspect, I call your customer service reps and they dont know anything about what I needed help with, including the release date and price for the Bold 9900. Thanks.. and get it together, I'm sure you guys dont want to lose another 50,000 customers, I've always been with you guys, but loyalty only goes so far."

It's weird that T-mobile is taking so long to release a phone, they are usually the fasted to release phones, a few months ago I would have never thought that Verizon would have released this phone before Tmo.. So I can only blame TMO/AT&T merger.. can't really think of anything else.. I guess that they are focusing on that.. I dont know, I just want the 9900!!! (or 9930)

My employer makes big purchases from Verizon wireless so I get a $50 discount from the $249 price tag on the 9900 and verizon service here (Los Angeles) isnt bad, plus the phone can still be used on GSM Networks (at EDGE Speeds I know) but at least it will still work (its convenient for me for when I travel to Nicaragua as they mostly have EDGE coverage anyways). Plus I get a 18% discount on service thru Verizon.

I had to vent! haha sorry

What to do? Now that Vz has released the 9930 I'm torn - should I stay with TM and wait for the 9900 knowing that means I'll just end up with AT&T? Or should I just to Vz now? What are others doing?

I called customer service today and I asked about the Bold 9900 and she told me they are currently in training for the Bold, which is a good sign. I also asked about the release date and she said with confidence "2 weeks."

I understand we all want this phone NOW but waiting another two weeks won’t be bad.

End of the month has been the assumed date based on prior posts, so this just confirms that information. Good work!

With T-Mobile, I have been told, it doesn't matter if you pay $299 or $199 up front since you end up paying the phone in full even with a 2 years contract. So, why doesn't T-Mo price it at $199 is plain out silly.

Executives at T-Mobile USA are either smoking crack or just don't care anymore. Because Apple has set the market for subsidized pricing (in the USA) with smartphones. $199 needs to be the subsidized price for ANY high end smartphone.

I just don't see many except the die hards paying $299 (after $50 rebate) for this Bold 9900 on a 2 year contract.

Unfortunately Businesses won't want to pony up the money for this blackberry either when their clients can easily go for the iphone which is not only the sexier choice BUT also the cheaper choice.

I am not a iphone fanatic. I own Androids, iphones and blackberries.

I am just being realistic about the pricing strategy of the Bold 9900 at Tmobile USA.

Keep in mind that the Bold line, from its inception, was meant to be the top-of-the-line flagship device and is priced accordingly. There are lower-cost BlackBerries available.

Since I'm a die hard and early adopter fan, I will cough up the $299. It’s a bit steep but damn the device is HOT!

I don't think you understand the point. This is T-mobile USA's call on the subsidized pricing. T-mobile USA has chosen a suicide route with their $299 ($350 before rebates) 2 year pricing.

All high end phones (the iPhone being the most expensive) are subsidized by the carriers.

The carriers are choosing to eat the cost of the phone in exchange for a 2 year contract.

Verizon is selling the same exact 9900 CDMA version for $199 on a 2 year contract.

That tells you T-mobile USA isn't willing to eat the subsidized costs of the phone by another $100.

$199 is the "gold standard" for carrier subsidized pricing for almost all "high end" smartphone with a 2 year contract. Anything higher they are asking for very low sales except to die hards.

They have plans that out beat the competition. Paying a extra $100 for this phone, you make it up in the amount you save over that 2yr period by being with tmobile, esp when it comes to blackberry plans.

Joe public will not understand. They see Iphone or android costs $199 or less on contract.

Again this is not Rims decision. This is T-Mobile USA decision on the subsidized pricing.

They will drop the subsidized pricing once they realize what a colossal mistake it was.

Let's see. Android super smartphone like Sensation 4G or probably the soon to be coming Samsung galaxy S2 for $199 on contract or Bold 9900 for $300about on contract.

Remember the Bold 9900 has to compete with T-Mobile branded smartphones also. Its just suicide pricing.
