Default 9780 vs 9700

I'm new to TMO, and was wondering if getting the 9780 is worth it, over the 9700. I want OS6, it looks promising. I'm not looking to get rid of my iphone, I'm looking for a back-up. (I also miss BB in general)

Does the processor speed on the 9780 make that much of a difference over the 9700? I've heard of some hardware issues with the 9780, but are they really worth getting excited over?

I'd really like to save a few bucks and get a 9700 on ebay or whatever. But at the same time, I'd like the piece of mind with a unit purchased at a store, with a warranty.

Any input would be appreciated.

Cool

The only difference between the 9780 and 9700 is more ram and a better camera. They both use the exact same processor. I find OS 6 to run very smooth on the 9780, probably due to the extra ram. With all my apps installed I had about 248MB of free space left.

I am also awaiting my fourth replacement for the 9780. Be advised the phone does have its issues. The most common issue would be the stuttering keyboard/double key input. My first model had a loose menu key that got stuck. My second replacement had a loose hinge at the top to the left of the Blackberry logo. My third replacement had a very loose trackpad.

Just keep that in mind before ordering. Others have reported a few exchanges and claim they have received perfect units. No phone will be perfect but manufacture defects should NOT be tolerated.

Good Luck!!!

Get the 9780
RIM will be giving 9780 users more updates than 9700, you know why.
9780 is faster too

Well the 9780 is only 99 right now. So if your new activation , then deff get the 9780. If your not new activation or if your getting the no contract plan. Then your looking between 150 to 200 give or take for the 9700.

it depends on how long the OP sticks with the phone. of course the 9780 would be better cause of the changes and more support but the 9700 is just fine. choose the one with the better deal, in store price or online price.

Thanks all. I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow, armed with my gift card left over from Christmas, and a reward zone coupon. By this time tomorrow, I should have my new 9780 setup.
