Default 8900 to 9700 upgrade question.

I'm debating whether or not to upgrade to the 9700 once its released.

The deciding factor will be if I'm allowed to keep my Blackberry Enabler add on which allows me to use bbm and any other app that requires data.

Does any body know if I will be allowed to keep it? I don't need data on my phone so I refuse to pay for it.

I bet they are going to make you pay for a data plan if you get the phone for a discount price (subsidized).

I would talk to Retentions and see what they can do. If it's a no-go, then I'd wait a bit and buy the 9700 outright from somewhere, and sell your 8900 to help pay it off.

You will have to pay for data. My cousin had this issue about a week ago.

What about the $19.99 add-on? Last I checked, T-Mobile does allow us to keep them even with a subsidy and will add a special feature to your account that locks the BIS for the term. Still true?

Yeah if you have that, T-Mobile will allow you to keep it. Not a problem.

I don't think this applies to the BB feature enabler, which is totally free and basically allows you to use data features without having to pay.

I have the FE w/o data, how did you get the BBM to work on it?

If you are using your discount on the 9700, you'll have to get the data package.

Thx Art, and yeah confirmed with a rep. That's good, glad T-Mobile isn't forcing the $29.99 on us.
