when was the last time you upgraded your phone? If it was recent, then you can't get another discount to upgrade again.

I know somebody who was a year into their contract and T-Mo would only go as low as $429 for the 8900 so she passed. She had been with them for about 5 years.

Yeah I am only a year into my contract but have heard from others on the forums of getting their 8900 for as low as 180 .. By swindling the CSRs and I am curious to what ways you guys have swindled CSRs and what luck you've had.

If you call the line and say "customer retentions" it will say "ok cancel your line" ignore that and a customer loyalty rep will pick up the phone. They are the only reps who can offer the 179.99 discount. I didn't try to swindle them. I have 5 lines with them and have been a customer for 6 years and just said can you upgrade any of them? I really want this phone and I said I just wanted the full discount. Of course the only price they can give you is 179.99 with no rebate. I'm sure your plan price, how long you've been with them, and if you are late with payments plays a factor. He offered me 2 but I just needed 1. So call and ask the worse that can happen is they say no. Just remember to be nice and don't demand.

are you still on contract when you did that?

I am in a very similar situation as you. ~6yrs, 5 lines. But all lines are still on contract til end of the year; I upgraded all phones last year. I call retentions to try to get some deals once in a while, and sometimes I get the feeling they're blowing me off cuz they know I can't actually cancel cuz that will be a lot in termination fees.
