Unhappy 8320 and File Free memory leak?

I just wanted to post this here to ask strictly the TMo 8320 users regarding File Free. I understand that the 8320 has lower memory than the 8310 and others, but I seem to have a problem with memory leak.

My 8320 was shipped to me with the .81 OS, and even then it seems I was having issues after reading some of the post regarding File Free on the 83XX thread. Normally I have a File Free of 9,xxx,xxx - 12,xxx,xxx and sometimes it even goes down to 9,xxx,xxx. I did a couple of OS upgrades (.110 > .124) and I am still having the same leak problem. After doing a QuickPull or battery pull, my File Free would go up to 18,xxx,xxx - 19,xxx,xxx but then during the day would go back down to my "normal" 9-12.

So my question is, is this a normal File Free for the 8320? Or is my 8320 defective? If it is defective, is this something I can get TMo to fix/replace? I got my Curve back in November 2008, so I am still within the warranty.

Any thoughts?

Oops sorry I meant to add that I have the following on my phone:

Google Aps
BibleReader
2 3rd pty Themes

4gb MicroSDCard that has all my songs, movies, and ringtones

75 contacts on my address book
No messages saved

Depends how many apps you have installed, how many messages stored, address book size, etc. That said, mine is usually around 12mb free. I'm running old .81 though, haven't had time to update.

Oops I meant to add those:

Google Apps
BibleReader
2 3rd pty Themes

4gb MicroSDCard with all my songs, movies, and ringtones

75 contacts on my address book
no messages saved

I also do a daily clean up on my phone, so I am not sure what this is what I have.

I mean, that sounds about the same as mine. I have Google maps, TwitterBerry, 1 custom theme, and Beejive installed, and mine usually averages out at about 12mb.

Ok, actually it turns out my old OS install was messed up and I didn't remove all of the modules like I thought I did. Right now after a reboot I have ~22mb free. I'm not sure how far that's going to go down yet, but it's more than I had before. Have you tried used CrackMem to free up some memory? For some reason it wasn't working for me, but it might be because it doesn't support DM 4.6 or something, so I had to do it manually via this thread:

I have about 24mb free on my phone after a battery pull, and it usually goes down to around 22mb. So I would expect with heavy usage like me you would wind up around 20mb.

I would follow the memory optimization link, also make sure you are closing your applications not just backing out of them. To close an app press the menu key then select close or exit.
Do you have facebook, viigo, or myspace app installed I have heard those cause memory issues as well. On my curve 8320 I am usually around 25mb with google maps, berry annoying, auto standby, and nobex installed.

I have done everything from updating my OS (twice) to following the direction on the memory optimization thread provided

I don't use my BB much at this time, and no I no longer have Facebook. I also don't have MySpace or Viigo. And yes I have used CrackMem to remove Apps that I don't need. I am afraid to upload any 3rd party apps now because of this leak problem. After 4-5 hours of doing a QuickPull/Battery pull, my Curve starts to get very sluggish, and this is when I notice the memory goes down to below 12mb.

So do you guys think I should contact TMo and get a replacement Curve?

if it's still under warranty yeah call t-mo and talk to the bb department they will troubleshoot the problem with you, so call from a phone other than your bb, if they can't fix the problem they should replace the bb-as long is it's in warranty

I run around 22 during the day. In the morning after my phone has been sitting I'm at 25. Lowest I have ever seen my phone go was 19 and I don't remember the last time I pulled my battery. Memory management has worked well for me. Several good links on here on how to do it.

I have the same problem as the OP and have upgraded my OS, cleared my history, call logs, texts and emails and the event log. I close out of every application properly as well. The only App I have is Jivetalk. I had contacted Tmo about this and they sent me a new handset. I'm still having the same problem...PLEASE HELP!

I never get more than 8MB file free (straight after a battery pull) and usually have 5MB or so and it dwindles down to under a meg and to zero. The more I browse the more quickly it drops. The only 3rd party apps I have are Google Maps and Opera mini. I'm running .110. I have maybe a total of 2MB of photos on the BB, no videos and two custom ringtones, totalling around 900KB. I have about 250 contacts. I've never, ever seen more than 14MB free. One probable reason is that I keep all my messages forever. I'm really looking forward to a new phone.

My phone usually starts with around 15 after a battery pull and can go down to about 6 after a few days of usage. I don't have a data plan and just use wifi. My only apps are:
Jivetalk
vlingo
slacker
podtrapper
opera mini

and I have deleted all the included IM programs, password keeper, etc. Can I also delete t-zones?

This is some really good information. I do have a question that might seem silly but if delete some of the regular apps that came with the phone I can get them back right?
