Default 3g speed on BlackBerry

Is there a secret to enabling my BlackBerry to pick up the 3g speed as I know it is available at my house as my friend with a g1 gets the speed when at my house but my BlackBerry will only get gprs or GPRS for net won't even go into edge mode

3G is a hardware feature. If the phone lacks the hardware, there is no way to make it get 3G speeds

Verizon and T-Mobile are not the same frequencies, it will only run on EDGE if you have T-Mobile as a carrier

No... You along with the rest of us on T-mo must wait for the next upcoming device that will have the hardware for 3g speeds. Try Wifi for now if u got a connection at home.

Your Storm works on 3G Band I. In order to get 3G coverage on T-Mobile USA's network, a phone must operate on both Bands I and IV.

The blackberry storm will not work with verizon 3g the phone is not capable of using those frequencies not even with a hack plain and simple and it does not have wifi but the new 9700 that's coming to T-Mobile has 3g and wifi

no, there is no way to run a non 3G capable phone on 3G network. its a hardware modification which enables 3G speeds. an EDGE capable phone will only run on EDGE or GPRS which is slower. if ur phone has wifi capability, connecting to wifi can beat 3G any time.

Go back and read some of these posts again...there is nothing you can do to reconfigure the Storm to work on the frequencies that T-Mo uses for their 3G. The phone is capable of 3G, but only on the VZ network.

I think you may be missing the point....
The Storm that you are using was specifically designed for use on Verizon. Verizon uses CDMA technology as it's native mode of cell transmission. However, with the Storm, you could travel, say to Europe, where the 3G hardware the Storm has can pick up 3G signal.

But, here in the U.S., if you use an unlocked Storm on T-Mobile or AT&T, the best signal you can get is 2G EDGE. That is because the frequencies these two carriers use for 3G cannot be picked up by the Storm's radio hardware. Europe yes, U.S. no.

I hope that clarifies things.
