Default 30 days then cancel?

I am not eligible for a upgrade on any of my lines. So, in order to take advantage of the new activation price for the 9700, I was going to add a line. My question is this, how long do I have to wait before I can cancel the additional line and just pay the etf? I am assuming its 30 days but I dont want to be hit with paying for the phone as well.

A few things to consider:

- You'll have a $35 activation fee which they won't waive if you cancel outside the buyer's remorse period. Make sure you factor that into the cost, along with one month of the required data service.

- If you're planning on getting it from an indirect (Non-corporate owned) dealer, you'll pay a termination fee to T-Mobile AND an additional fee to the dealer.

- If you're getting it from a corporate store, the $200 ETF is usually more than the price difference to do an early upgrade on one of your lines, especially if you've been a customer for more than two years total. It's worth giving care a call and at least asking if there is a better price. If the 9700 is $199 new and $399 on a partial upgrade, do the upgrade and save the activation and service fees.

- If you choose to do a new line anyway, order it online rather than going into a store. Activating it knowing that you're going to cancel a month later is wasting the sales person's time, and they will be charged back on their commission.

Having said all that, the answer to your question is 15 days. The return period is 14 days, so any time after that would incur a termination fee, but you would keep the phone.

Thank you for the information. Definitely a lot more information that I did not take into consideration. I appreciate the info Norris
