Man peeps are already gettin the new 9780 from Tmo stores and CS.
I really would like to get one ASAP using my wife's line but only if Tmo is offering the $10 data plan.

ok, I just finished chattin with a rep on T-mobile's chat service and was told that this new plan is available now with a new 2-yr contract.
If I wanted to downgrade to this plan on my line, I would need to extend my contract as well.
She told me to order through sales and request it but after I asked, she said a retail store can set this up as well, which is my preference.
Sooo, I'm gonna see if I can grab one of these bad boys on the way home today.

But I guess I won't really know until I go thru the process of getting the 9780 whether thru CS or in-store. Then they'll say, oh the system won't let me do that or yes I can do this for you. (Shrug)
The EM Family 1500+text+200mb data would work great for me, I just have yet to find out if I can switch with just a 1-line upgrade or if I have to upgrade them all.

Well, I just picked up a 9780 and she's gorgeous.
BUT, I couldn't get the $10 web it was $15 for the 200mb plan because I have an older plan.
So that is what that T-Mo doc said in the link. But, that's not what I was told (which I realize happens all the time)
Anyway, do you think I should bother calling CS about it? or just suck it up?
Obviously that's for me to decide but feel free to offer your opinion, thx.

I believe it's only 10$ if you're on EM.
$15 if you're on an older plan. I'm not sure why that's what it is. Same thing for text too. $15 for unlim txt on older plans while the EM plans give it to you for $10.
(Unless you're like me, on a grandfathered plan with 9.99 txt unlim for individuals).

| | A good deal
I just switched both of my $25 unlimited (5gb now) to the new $10 200mb plans. I basicly use the BIS service on my phone just for the push e-mail, and messaging so I've never go over 40 to 75 mbs a month (once in a while I'll check the weather or a game score)
The one that worries me a little is my daughters android service, she normally pretty good (been using between 100 to 200 mbs a month) so I think I'll be OK with the change.
She's been using the 3G my touch and I hope the new 4G my touch I'm getting her for Christmas dosen't change that.
I was told by the T-mobile rep that she can monitor her usage by calling #932# then send to check her usage, and if she dosen't T-mobile will e-mail her and I if she comes close to the 200mb limit.
You gotta love T-mobile, NO contracts, the lowest prices I can get for the services I need, and the BEST customer service you can get

Jaszman,
If your daughter DOES go over (and it's possible) with her new phone, I've read elsewhere that the overage charges cap out at $40/month. So you wouldn't have to worry about paying a bill that is hundreds of dollars, the most you'd pay is $40/month, which is $10 over the unlimited plan. And at that point, you may decide to switch her back.

| | Good to know
Artemis68, thanks for that info, as you say if she does go over this Christmas with the overages capped a $40 by T-mobile, and my current savings being $30 on both the BIS & the Android service for her I'll olny be out $10. Thats a load off my mind and I can now relax (and not hover over her new phone)
I was told by the rep on the phone that I was grandfathered and could return her to the $25 unlimited plan if needed, but knowing about that $40 cap gives me the courage to wait and see if she returns to normal after Christmas. Thanks Again

After reviewing my bill for the past year, I never saw any month having more than 40MB data so I switched from the unlimited $30 data plan to the 200MB $15 data plan.
I was told there would be no contract extension, this is cool as my decision to do EM instead of EM+ a year ago just saved me another $200.
Never inquired about the $10 plan, I assume it's something that would require a contract extension? If so, I am cool with not having to extend my contract for only $5 more a month. That's only $60 for the remaining of the contract compared to $200 ETF if I need to cancel after the original contract is up.

I was just wondering if the family allowances will let you put a lid on the data so you don't have to worry about that $40 cap that was mentioned????
I have the family allowances but am too lazy to check right now
I have $20 unlimited so won't be changing anything but was just curious if it could be done. It might save a few parents some cash if possible.

Tmobile has slightly lower service (talk, messaging, BIS, etc) rates for customers who don't sign 2 yr contracts, However the down side to these slightly lower rates is you have to pay full price for your phones.
A long time ago I had a very bad expierience with a very bad provider. It drove me crazy that I would have to pay them money to discontinue their very bad service, so I kept one line with them, changed most of my cell phones and services to Tmobile (wihtout contract), and spent most of the next 3 months calling that bad providers help line (complaining about their bad service) untill they released me from my contract, 1 year early, without penalty.
I have been with Tmobile, without contract ever since.
Old people don't mind paying for somthing, but god help you if they don't get what they pay for.
