AT&T OS Upgrade 7.1?
Does anyone have any idea why AT&T has not released 7.1 yet? I know I can get it from other carriers, but I'm curious as to why AT&T seems to always lag behind other carriers when it it comes to releasing OS upgrades.

I have no definite reason why, but AT&T has always been slow to release official OS updates. It was like that even when I used a 9000 back in 2009. I remember Vodafone being really fast to release new updates.

They usually wait to hammer out all the fine details is what I hear. Thats why they are slow. Either that or its just another one of their ploys to drive their customers insane. Hope it comes soon!

Well, OS 6 that AT&T has for the 9800 is a good 10 months old while other carriers have moved on to newer builds since. And there are no new features to exploit. So, there is no reason they should still be stuck at .600 with its issues when the newest available at the moment is .723 which, IMO, works better (not faster - that never really happens - just better).

Make sure you download vendelete on your computer and run that after downloading any os onto your computer. Takes all vendor files out. Even the invisible ones.
Launch dm and that will show you a new update is ready.

I think it's a bit closer now since the recent leaks of 7.1.0.402 for the 9900, 9930, 9810, 9860, 9370 & 9850
If I remember right, when this happened the last time a big OS update was due and a consistent leak version popped, (especially after numerous other vendors released earlier builds) ATT officially brought out the update somewhat shortly afterwards. - 04-20-2012, 10:46 PM #11
no matter how i may feel from a financial standpoint, everything i've ever recieved directly from ATT (and RIM), technology-wise, automatically not finagled, has been spot-on...i want the upgrades but i'll wait.
btw-i still love my (default) torch II an awful lot, it's one heck of a slider no doubt, and last of its breed it appears. if anyone cares, i'd love a landscape version of the very same item. imo, there will always be a place in the world for real keyboards. thumbs have feelings, too

With BB devices there is no good reason to wait for A$$. Load a leak or another carrier official and reap the OS benefits. One real joy of BB is a measure of control of your own phone.

Like I said in an above post. Download the os from blackberry. Run it in your pc to install all its fun stuff.
Download vendelete and run that. It finds all vendor xml files on your computer even the hidden ones.
Once that's deleted all the files open up desktop manager and wholla it will show that there's an update.
I'm currently os 9900/7.1.0.284 (B998) and its battery life is killer. Was pretty sad on the phone today. Had a 1 1/2 hour phone call and I did lose about 50% of battery and I don't know why. I have a spare anyway so its no issue to me.
