    Default Switching to AT&T help?

I'm currently with Verizon Wireless (which is amazing, so don't get me wrong!) and we're thinking about switching to AT&T and are trying to figure out some prices. Myself and my mother will be switching over, so we'll be doing the family share plan for 3 people (once my dad's contract ends he'll likely be switching over as well if we decide to do this) and it will be for the 550 minutes one priced at $60 a month. Since we'll both be getting BlackBerry devices, that's $30 for each phone in data plans, which brings it up to $120 a month. For messaging we want to get unlimited, but I'm not really sure which one to be looking at? And will the unlimited only count for us texting other AT&T customers, or is it unlimited to ANY carrier like it is on Verizon? And there's a plan that says unlimited text and data - is that data plan for BlackBerry devices, as well? I also have an email address for my BlackBerry that I set up after I got it, would I still HAVE that email address or would it disappear?

And when we switch will AT&T do the "break-up?" Verizon did it for us when we left AT&T 2/3 years ago right after the Cingular merge.

I appreciate any help, and thanks in advance!

The $30 family text covers all three lines for texting to any US network.

true, if you get unlimited data, texting is included in the package. I have the unlimited data on my 9700 and the family unlimited text plan for $20/mo for all my kids phones

I don't think ATT will do anything in regards to this. When I switched to ATT, I was currently with USCC and I had 18 months left on my contract. THey told me I had to do it myself and pay all of their ETF's.

So the unlimited data & text covers BlackBerry devices, as well, so I wouldn't need a separate BlackBerry plan? That would be way cheaper.

Ooh. I don't even know how to go about canceling service, but we'd be waiting until the contract ends. If we send back our new phones (we upgraded on the 2nd & the 3rd) then our contract should end around April 11th, and then we'd cancel and switch over.

3 lines @ 550 minutes + BB package x2 + unlimited texting = $189.98, and if you port your numbers they'll "break up" with verizon for you

Ooh. So it's pretty much about the same price as Verizon, then.

If you want cheaper plans, you pretty much have to use T-Mobile or Sprint. How is their coverage in your area? Either one of them will be cheaper than VZW or AT&T.

I just looked at the maps, and they're pretty terrible. My friend that has T-Mobile says there are so many dead zones here.

True. Tmo is getting better but just not there yet. AT&T plans are the same or VERY smilar to Verizon.

Well, and isn't there a rumor flying around that T-Mobile may be bought out in the future?
